how good is oppo bdp 83 on music from c.d.'s?
The upgrade that Lapierre mentions takes the base BDP83 model and upgrades it to the SE version, which has the upgraded DAC chipsets from ESS and has beefier analog power supplies. But to answer the OP's original question, the base BDP-83 ($499) i...
Has anyone heard the new OPPO BDP-83SE
Albert...here's the official thread on AVSForum on the BDP-83 SE...http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1194011
Has anyone heard the new OPPO BDP-83SE
Albert...you get the new ESS DAC chipsets and upgraded power supplies which were the two weak points of the base BDP-83 player in terms of audio playback. Click on the link I posted in my first comment above (i'll include it again): http://www.opp...
Recommendation needed for Turntable
Jamey...I was going to ask the same thing. Does your $1000 budget incl having to buy a cart along with tt or do you have one that you plan on using. I am assuming you will be using the MM stage in your Creek integrated. Here are some past posts fo...
Has anyone heard the new OPPO BDP-83SE
My take on it is that they launched the SE version on November 9 so, from that point on, you have the option to buy the SE version outright at $899 (it would make no sense for them to allow people to buy the base BDP-83 from Nov 9 onwards and then...
Has anyone heard the new OPPO BDP-83SE
sidssp...you got it. the difference is you don't get the Special Edition moniker on the upgraded BDP-83 because they don't switch out the faceplate to the new version with "Special Edition" written next to BDP-83. But more to your point, the prici...

Floorstander or bookshelf?
Kerio..i agree that you need to address the speaker/room interface before entertaining new speakers. Before treating the room, you can get potentially great enhancement in your in-room bass response by merely playing around with speaker placement....

Pedrillo...sorry didn't mean to sidetrack your original thread. I am done. I hope you get additional answers concerning your question on ARC preamps.

I was not talking about your comments about lines you carry but rather your negative inferences concerning products that compete with lines you carry. I hardly think you would have called Efner's statement laughable if he had stated that an Atmasp...

While I agree that calling the LS-26 the 2nd best preamp in the world is a gross exageration (and yes as i said I owned one and now have the Ref3), what's also funny is that you are an Atma and not an ARC dealer and it's hilarious how quick you ar...

are you considering buying only new or are you willing to buy used? You can buy used LS-17 or LS-26 and get GNSC mods (http://www.greatnorthernsound.com/) which are specialized in ARC mods. They have a number of people including the founder who wo...
Anyone using a Blu-Ray player as a transport?
Why do you want use a Bluray player simply as a CD transport? Makes no sense. Especially since you supposedly have a $12500 dedicated Wadia transport driving a $32K Boulder DAC? Please enlighten us.

Agree with everything that has been said. I owned the LS-26 before upgrading to the Ref3. The LS-26 is a great amp and probably the best value in the ARC preamp line but the Ref3 betters it by a considerable margin. And now with many used Ref3s av...
