Tube Preamp with adjustable gain As mentioned above some of the earlier ARC preamps have adjustable gain. I used to own the LS-26 (now discontinued and superceded by the LS-27). The LS-26 is an excellent preamp and has three gain settings that you can select via the remote contro...
Should I Try a Tube Preamp? Ken...congrats and thanks for the update. Sounds like you have arrived at a nice place and you have taken the DIY route to get there, learning a whole bunch on the way. Good for you.
Brand/model of interconnect cable? Jjfelton3...the easiest way I can think of doing it is to upload the photo on a site like www.photobucket.com (i beleive signing up is free) and then providing a link here to the uploaded photo at photobucket.com. Hope this helps.
Brand/model of interconnect cable? Can you take a photo and post a link to it to help Agoners help you identify the ICs?
Acoustic Zen Adagio vs Thiel 2.4 Hoffer 71...eventhough I am a fan of the 2.4s and definitely think you should audition them, I did see this Agon ad for the Adagios and on the face of it, it looks like a decent deal for a brand new pair: http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spk...
Acoustic Zen Adagio vs Thiel 2.4 Cmalak: I'll be using a McIntosh mc-202 200w SS amp. Should be plenty given my room.Got it. You are right, that should be plenty. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
Acoustic Zen Adagio vs Thiel 2.4 Hoffer71...when I had them in my 14x18 room they were on the long wall so they were 8' apart and the left speaker didn't have a wall to it's side for 15+' because the living space opened to the kitchen on that side. The right speaker was 4' from t...
Acoustic Zen Adagio vs Thiel 2.4 Hoffer71...I am not familiar with the Adagios but I do ownt he 2.4s and they are a great speaker. I would only say that your 12x18 room is not too small for the Thiels. I was in a similar room for years (14x18) and I actually had the speakers set ...
Audio Research VS-115 vs Ref110 Sdgron...understood. I was just passing along what I heard. Personally, I do not envision getting rid of my Ref 110s for a very long time. They do so much right and very little wrong to my ears. So they are easy to recommend. Hopefully, you will g...
Audio Research VS-115 vs Ref110 I have the Ref 110s (driven by Ref 3). They are phenomenal amps. I have not heard the VS-115s but my dealer says the VS-115s deliver 80-90% of the Ref110s at 60% of the cost. So they no longer keep the Ref110s as floor demos, preferring to have th...
Tube Questions - Audio Research Reference 5 shanghait...I would work up the chain from source to amp step-by-step. So, first, I would switch your ICs from the Linn to the ARC if the sound doesn't switch sides than it's not the Linn and I would then switch ICs from Ref 5 to your amp. If the ...
Tube Questions - Audio Research Reference 5 Shanghait...are you sure the ARC Ref 5 is the source of the noise? How have you eliminated either the Linn DAC or Bel Canto amps as the source of the anomaly? Just trying to make sure you have diagnosed the source of the problem accurately before ...

Any experience with AR Dsi200? I will try to edit my post to ARCPosty...I don't think you can edit posts so I wouldn't worry about it. Everybody will know that you meant ARC. I just was offering it up as an fyi for future posts. Have you had a chance to listen to the DSi200? |
