Need preamp suggestion I love my Lexicon unit. Best sounding preamp I’ve ever heard.
Someone please talk me out of this Show patience and be conservative. There’s always going to be new toys showing up continually. Wait for a really good deal.
Solid Silver Ethernet Cable? I’ve been a professional network engineer for 20 years. I started when Arcnet was hip. Spent the majority of my years reading packets traces from Arcnet, BNC, source routed token ring to current. Cat 5 or 6 cable is sufficient to pass far more dat...
If your were to assemble a vintage system ? I’m actually doing that right now. I’ve been a Hafler fan for years. I’ve got a mint XL-280 fresh from tuneup from ‘85. I finally found a Hafler 945 preamp that’s in transit to my home ( mom still has my SE100 preamp). I’m just completing my resto...
Worst Concerts You Have Attended ?? Rush…every time they have been out west. The last show was Vegas at the MGM Grand. When they played “Headlong Flight”, everything in the arena stopped. Everyone working there gathered at each portal…there was no one manning the concessions. Even t...
Kef 104.2 Speakers. Suggestions Discussion Forum It took me such a very long time to get around to this speaker. My first real speaker was a KEF C80. Smooth, not the best low end but a very well rounded speaker. I found a beautiful Cherry 104/2 speakers put up for a sale by a son who didn’t wan...
Remarkably better sound possible with just 1 system component change? I know your itch. I’m always scratching. I’ve ended up with three very large systems, with dozens of other speakers and amps in storage. I swap them around every so often. I found equipment is sort of like wine. Many different types to try, differ...
If you stream music from the internet, I can't recommend this more highly I’m a retired Network engineer. I’ve been involved with wiring, packet tracing and what not (source routed token ring yea). Where I run aground in this issue, is the data prior to the DAC. It’s all digital data packets. Electrical interference or...
What is the Silliest Accessory You Have Ever Seen. My fav was the metal cd disk monster cable made to help smooth out the content. Digital data isn’t smooth, or rough or harsh. It’s zero’s and ones. And it added more mass for the drive motor. The $1200 power cable is my next fav. All this massive ...
Class D I purchased a Rotel RMB-1575 just as a first plunge into the class D world. It’s 250 watt x five channel in 8 ohm, 500 watt @ 4 ohm. My RBH Reference gear is four ohm. This amp could destroy my basement with freakish volume and all the while, cool...
How old are you? 55 | |
Has "politically correct" killed the used audio market? I’m a disabled guy on a fixed budget. Audio is my only hobby. I’ve been able to acquire an incredible volume of fine audio products for pennies on the dollar. They include JBL L200t3, L100T3. L100t. L80T, L20, L20t3,L3,L5,L1, 4311b, ES-90, S26, L4...
High end Class D amps? I purchased a Rotel class D five channel amp (RMB-1575) just for curiosity. It’s a very honest 250 wpc @ eight ohm and 500 wpc @ four ohm. I have it connected to my RBH Reference system, a pair of SV-T2, a SV-6200c and two 770 mounted rear wall. T...
Budget tower speakers that rock! Go find a pair of RBH SV-6500 towers. Beautifully balanced and so well made. For a brief time, I built them. The cabinets are incredibly well made, heavy bracing. The crossovers are very high quality materials, using very heavy gage internal wiring.
Do speaker wires matter I use a quality 10 gauge speaker on everything in my system. Any additional expense for supposed higher grade wire is a waste of money. It’s a total snake oil business. People do not hear cable. It just makes them feel special having it back there... |
