Getting the best from Usher Mini Dancer II's
Do your Ushers have the beryllium or DMD tweeters?
Wet Cleaning the Stylus
Yeah, I always find it interesting when manufacturers generate myths about their products in an effort to increase sales. A few years ago, BMW began including oil changes throughout the warranty period. Coincidentally, oil change intervals jumped ...

I haven't check lately but the Henley upgrade refers to European models and the pulley will not work with North American Pro-jects. I use the OEM pulley and have had no problems. Since the surgery, everything continues to run quiet and smooth and ...
Correct Phono Preamp Gain Setting
I played a little bit of the Acoustech 45rpm recording of Horace Silver's Tokyo Blues at both settings. First with the phono gain set at 71db. Then again at 58db. At 58db I noticed a lot less hissing, more front to back depth in the soundstage, an...
Correct Phono Preamp Gain Setting
Sorry for the confusion, I should not have differentiated volume from anemic and lacking punch. Volume is the variable I am referring to. Even though I have been doing vinyl for about 3 years, I am a novice when it comes to these sensitivity, tone...

Dreadhead, I think your turntable has the isolated motor which is mostly immune from vibrations being transmitted to the plinth and tonearm. You've got something else going on. Please describe in detail what you mean by reacting and not cooperating.
Pro-ject RM RPM 5 5.1 6 6.1etc. Owners Fixed
Discovered one more effective resonance reducing method for the RM or RPM 6 series turntable. As you know the plinth transmits vibration to the tonearm from the motor. The tonearm assembly is connected to a recessed section of the the plinth with ...

If you have properly isolated the motor and installed the brass weights (mass = density = reduction in plinth resonance and transfer of vibration), then you have accomplished 95% of the potential improvements available to your turntable. The next ...
Pro-Ject Xpression & Debut Modifictions....read
The Pro-Ject Xpression and RM and RPM models are potentially excellent tables but are all affected by one major problem and that is rumble caused by the motor being coupled to the plinth. These model Pro-jects have a floating motor that has a poor...
How a nickel can make a valuable improvement
I purchased the 2 inch OD extra thick brass washer from grainger part number 5ry47 for $6.25 each.
How a nickel can make a valuable improvement
I use the Edensound threaded Bearpaws on my "suspension-fixed" Pro-ject 6.1 RM with great success. I have the paws screwed up tight to the plinth so they can serve to introduce mass and resonance reduction to the plinth. Additionally I purchased a...
HELP Sudden Phonomena II Groundloop Hum
Thanks for your advice. I contacted Michael Yee the designer of the Phonomena and explained what was happening with the sound. He believes the problem could be located in the 50k output resistors. He asked if he should send me a pair to install or...
