X250.5 vs X250.8 I had X250.5, x250.8 and now X350.5. The .5's have a warmer sound than .8. I prefer the .5 over .8, but .8 is more dynamic.Have you compared XP-32 with other preamps? I am considering a preamp to go with the X350.5.
Biggest bang for the buck in retipping a new Denton DL103R My budget is around $1K. I am willing to go higher if it means dramatic improvement. I want to be well below the point of diminishing return.

rule of thumb: how long do you leave a tube preamp on versus turning it off then back on? @sandemallI also have Don Sach tube preamp and Pass amp. If you leave on your SS, don’t you worry about your preamp tubes blowing while you’re turning it on/off?

Recommendations for a modestly priced analog system @rauliruegas I agree with you. However, never having had an hifi analog system, I am not even sure I will be able to hear what could be improved, unless it is super obvious. One never knows the deficiency of a decent system unless you hear a GREAT...
Recommendations for a modestly priced analog system Regarding the phono stage (that he made), this is what the seller said.Any preamp with an auxiliary input will work. The "Takata phono stage" will drive any 5k or higher input impedance, with gain ideally around 10dB (depending on your power amp a...
Big amplifiers and heat dissipation in a small room @millercarbon. It was the amp. I borrowed a 250W class D amp Brookyn AMP, I had no problem but didn't sound very good. I got an Pass Labs X350.5. Now glorious!!! I am now selling my Conrad Johnson 140W mono block.

Tweaking Cary SLP-98P F1 Preamp Has anyone direct coupled their SLP98F1? I sent mine down to Cary for direct coupling. I used to think direct coupling meant removing the output capacitor, but it sounds like Cary takes out capacitors between the gain stages. Is this correct?
Recommendations for a modestly priced analog system I want to thank everyone for contributing to my vinyl journey. I would like to report back on what I decided. I purchased a very well maintained Sota star III with Sumiko premier MMT tone arm and Denon D103R cartridge. The gentleman who sold me t...
