marantz integrated
I have the marantz 8004. It is a great unit, especially at half price. Very "polite", sweet, liquid midrange, never sounds hard. It is a very good amp.I have also a NAD 315, very dynamic but not as refined as the marantz, and I have owned Arcam Al...
Which N AD?? or maybe Marantz
I have a NAD 315bee integrated and a marantz pm8004.The Marantz, at first, does not feel as powerful and exciting (dynamic range, bass impact..) as the NAD. However, after further listening, the marantz is definetely in a different class: better i...
inexpensive warm sounding speaker cable
Canare 4S11
Paradigm speaker help
I have had the studio 40s series 4 for a while. I also wanted the Monitor series (previous version) but I was very disappointed and that's why I opted for the studio series. I got rid of the 40s after a year because I wanted bass without a sub, so...
Signal cable Analog Two IC
Yes - very good cable indeed, that I am still using between my cable box and integrated. Clear and neutral. You may want to try canare lv-61s or other belden products from blue jeans.. may be a tad cheaper.
Fans of Blue Jeans Speaker Cable?
I have the 4s11 for speaker cables - they are great.I have bl-1 for interconnects, but also canare lv61 which I prefer (greater clarity / dynamic range I feel!)Honestly, I do not see the point going with more expensive cables than canare or belden.
Thoughts on very cheap speaker cables
You can try Canare 4S6 at $0.30 a foot... 4x20awg. You can cover it with techflex. It's pretty thin - I have tried it out of curiosity against the bigger 4s11. The sound was anemic with the smaller bundle in my gear, but it may not be the case for ...
REGA RS5... any owner?
Well it's been now nearly a year since I have the RS5s, and I am still super happy. In my room (open living room/breakfast area/kitchen = 16'x25'), the bass is just right. They replaced a pair of Vandersteen 2CE signature, which were overwhelming ...
Repair or Replace my JM Labs Micron Carats
I used to build speakers in the 90s using focal, seas, audax, etc... I remember the focal as being dry sounding, not much upper-bass when compared to seas drivers in the same box. Therefore, my vote would go for the psb...or maybe someone like zaly...
French Speakers?
It seems that focal-jm labs has not put any effort in home speakers in years. They did a lot of developments in the automotive, studio gear, personal gear but not much in speakers since utopia (late 90s?). Last time I checked them, chorus line I b...
Best $1,500-ish New or Used Floorstander -
I have had many speakers in my house... ml aerius i, magnepan mmg and mg12, bw 9nt, vandersteen 2ce signature, paradigm, psb...I bought a pair of rega rs5 last year and could not be happier: nice, well balanced and clear sound in a compact package...
Matching speaker cables to Magnepan MMG's
I second blue jeans type of wires....I have owned MMGs and MG12s, and I have had the best experience with 18awg magnet wires. As power hungry as the maggies are, it does not make any sense, but I had the best bass slam with thin, monofilament wires.
low end floorstander or high end bookshelf?
Does it have to be B&W?You may find a good compromise with high-quality floor standers at the price of the 805.
Kimber, Signal or Blue Jeans?
All of them are good cables.I may be wrong but Signal is using canare and belden, like blue jeans. The difference is in the terminations.I shopped with blue jeans - I have canare 4s11 for speaker cables @ about $30 for a 10ft pair, and I do not kn...
