High Fidelity Cables CT-1designed by Rick Schultz
As the "Affordable Audiophile" I own a set of the HFC Magnetic Adapters. "100%" is a modest measure of the improvement. My findings: Magnetic Adapters will create a Holographic Soundstage, eliminate the noise floor, and expand the musical presence ...
High Fidelity Cables CT-1designed by Rick Schultz
You don't have to have the volume turned up when burning in. I created a mp3 playlist enough for 12 hours. Left it playing in a loop overnight or when not actually listening during waking hours. 200 hours is like nine days. Trust me, it is worth t...
Suggestions for streamer in bedroom system
I suggest a Raspberry Pi with Allo DigiOne and digital coax to the DAC. Ethernet is cleaner than USB. Also I will recommend an iFi iPower 5v psu. Best $49. Total just over $200 with the Allo acrylic case cause its The only one that has been design...
Is USB audio dying?
I have been testing the Network of my Music library on server and Raspi end points. I use the Allo DigiOne and SPDIF to the DAC. There is simply no comparison in SQ. Bit perfect digital beats USB direct from host to DAC. USB is riddled with noise ...
Network Players and External DACs
"@cheapbob do you mind to share the details on your Raspberry Pi solution?"No problem. I am using two Raspberry Pi computers as end-points to my LAN. The main system gets the signal from my 7Tb server, into the Allo DigiOne which outputs a bit-per...
Cleaner music when laptop is on battery vs plugged in
Laptops are notorious as the worst possible devices to use in Computer Audio, for the very reason cited. May I suggest, as a very inexpensive alternative, using a Raspberry Pi computer with a digi+ S/PDIF card, and eliminate the laptop.
Does anyone leave their amp and preamp on all the time?
My Denon stays on all the time, as does my music server. The individual nodes (raspberry pi servers) are turned off. My Wyrd and Schiit Modi stay on all the time.
Network Players and External DACs
I am using a Raspberry pi for my network transport and Schiit external DACs.
Curious How These Nordost Speaker Cables Do What They Do
There is an old expression that seems appropriate at this juncture: "Out of the frying pan, and into the fire"I have a friend who had an extra pair of Nordost Valhalla Reference speaker ribbons he had no use for, so he gave them to me.At the time,...
DAC for either Roon or HQPlayer on Linux?
I am quite pleased with the iFi iOne nano as my DAC. It has Bluetooth connectivity, and it uses a Burr-Brown ("These sets iFi Audio continues on chipsets from Burr-Brown, or more precisely the DSD1793, whereby the manufacturer proudly points out t...
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic
@oregonpapa I have no CD collection any longer. When I saw the end in sight, I ripped everything to MP3 (I had never even heard of FLAC way back then) and then sold them off to the used CD store, while it was still open. Maybe I had a vision, but ...
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic
@oregonpapa A $10 CD player definitely gets this week's "Computer Audiophile on the Cheap" Gold Medal award with Oakleaf Clusters! Great find!
Full detailed sound at 30 - 40 - 50 dB
@gdhal Thank you for your ringing endorsement of Grateful Dead Music to produce a more peaceful and well-balanced child. I don’t have children, but I would recommend Dead for folks with a new puppy. My one-year-old is a jammin’ Deadhead dog, who a...

Earliest "MOST WANTED" gear
I will never forget my first lusting for a sound system, it was 1974 and Mike Oldfield had just released "Tubular Bells". I stopped by a stereo store on the Northside of Indianapolis, and the salesman asked me if I had heard ESS Heil Air Motion Tr...
