Driving myself crazy with TT purchase...
Yeah.Spend $1200 on Scout and you lose $$ when selling but Project 5 or 6 eries are nice for money.Forget Grace I have it on my old LP12 and would rather better arm (I also have a $550 VPI rig).Or MMF5 from Music Hall.Hook them up to a Denon DL103...
DAC recommendations?
Want to know myself. But $600 is not huge money for DAC these days and could be built on.I have been wondering if a yused Benchmark or PS Audio is worth $600-$800 for my system but probably is.You have a nice system IMHO.Chazz
NHT 2.5i VS NHT Classic 4
I'd like to know but guess that Classic series may have been the best work they ever did (though like the SB bookshelves for price).Hope company comes back.Chazz
Krell KSA 200 stereo amplifier
KSA is good for speakers with speakers where they have hard load demands or big swings in impedance (I sold B&W and though the 803 was a 90db speaker needed current as it went below 4 though nominally rated at 8 ohm.So if it's and easy speaker...
Dynavector 20 XL or H for Rega 600 arm
Good match.Shelter is not as as Dyna at full band (shelter tips up mids).Didn't check Jolida or Dyna gain and outputs but should be easy to check from spec sheet.Or call Music direct which has both.Chazz
VPI Scout Hum
Call Mike at VPI.
sonic frontiers sfl-1 or bryston 11b ?
They are totally different.I am familiar with other Brytson pre's and they are solid low noise and built well like their amps. But If you have a solid state amp and like a warm sound and are willing maybe to give up some bass dynamics for a better ...
Recommended cartridge for Rega TT P2
Skip the Rega.Dynavector or get a bargain with Denon DL series.Chazz
Krell or Plinius?
Krell will give you better grip on bass but with a good speaker can sound a bit metallic or "etched" in mids.On other hand Plinius has very "tubey" SS sound that might or might not side by side be your cup of Tea.Depends on your other gear,wiring,...
Best pre-amp/amp combo for Maggie MMGs?
Tube pre./Might want to sell those OK amps and get a Bryston. and old Bryton SST either 3 or 4 (latter is if you ever get bigger Maggies) but Bryston and Maggie is the classic match (as per Maggie owners son and everybody else I talked to with few...
Audio Newbie Question-Asperion Speakers
Fro same bang for buck similar price performance would be AV123 bookshelves.Of go used market for a Quad 12L.Then see about maybe getting better power amp an loop through pre- and get more out of a pioneer AV or going to Integrated if you don't ha...
VPI Scoutmaster 2 vd Clearaudio Performance SE

Looking for a new SS integrated amp for B&W 805S
Ayre is good.Sold Krell and B&W a number of years ago including 805S.Most Krell could have metallic or "etched" mid but B&W is pretty forgiving and the 300i,S300 etc have that Krell grip on the bass that's great.150 watts is perfect power ...
preamp for canary 330 mono blocks
Passives are some folks taste but right now for a bang for buck pre I'd say the Modwright 9 used or maybe better Dodd Battery power.Real no frills but off power the grid.Friend has one and loves it.If you want old school tried and tested an Audibl...
