Phono stage w/automatic Load-Impedanance.
@lewm You are right, i thought it was a current-driven because of the "Automatic Load Impedance" feture advertized by the manufacturer, and because of the comments in the beginning of my post (from 2015). But never too late to learn. As we noticed...
Phono stage w/automatic Load-Impedanance.
@sksos1 Well, thanks, but i think you missed the point, i have an external SUTs and headamps, but this topic is about WLM phono stage with internal SUTs, they are small and mounted on the motherboard inside my phono stage. I don’t need another ext...
Phono stage w/automatic Load-Impedanance.
To summarize it from the manual:WLM is An inductive VOLTAGE AMPLIFICATION (SUTs) + A solid state CURRENT AMPLIFICATION stage (MOS-FET) There is a separate MM phono stage inside and i’m happy about the quality of it with 100k Vishay load resistors....
Cartridge upgrade
Have you heard about Miyajima cartridges ? Models like Shilabe and Kansui ? They are not in your price range, but if you're looking for some organic sound then try them. I'm sure Fidelity-Research MC cartridges like Fr-7f or PMC-3 is what you have...
Phono stage w/automatic Load-Impedanance.
@lewm we’re talking about internal SUTs on the motherboard inside WLM phono stage. WLM Phonata has "Automatic Load Impedance for MC" as its unique feature or a simple marketing? I wish to know, the unit is long time out of production, company went...
Cartridge alignment tool
I will repeat it again, especially for people who spend $1300 for a Protractor (???), that DR.FEICKERT cost only about 140 pounds + shipping and it has everything that we need for ANY tonearm on ANY turntable to make proper alignment of ANY cartri...
Phono stage w/automatic Load-Impedanance.
Thanks @atmasphere Well, sadly the SUTs in my WLM are not Lundahl, i’ve noticed that, but today i got an email from Lundahl support to make sure. The SUTs are what’s WLM called professional step-up transformers. Actually the WLM Phonata model with...
Cartridge upgrade
If you would like to upgrade whithout spending too much then MM or MI path is the best, in $400-1500 you can buy some exceptional cartridges, mostly vintage ones (from the 70s/80s), but can be found NOS (unused). You already have an MC from respec...
Phono stage w/automatic Load-Impedanance.
Dear all, after quite some time of using different phono stages from cheap Grado PH-1, iPhono2, to the great JLTi and finally Gold Note PH-1 i have to say the old WLM Phonata is really good. For some reason the WLM bass is addictive and none of my...
Difference in sound using different carts when digitizing vinyl record?
People swap cartridges more often, not a turntables @tzh21y  We have more cartridges than turntables anyway, most of usSome people have many tonearms, but not as much as the cartridgesThis common practice is a proof of the importance of the cartri...

Difference in sound using different carts when digitizing vinyl record?
@terry you can set up any cartridge perfectly on an average tonearm like Technics Sl1200mkII stock toneam with total cost of $150 (imagine), if you have $30 headshell with azimuth and overhand it's not a big deal to set up a cartridge. An overhand...
Difference in sound using different carts when digitizing vinyl record?
Yeah, me too, i know what i’m talking about. If anyone has a reference tonearm it’s easy to compare two well matched, but different cartridge on it to make sure the better the cartridge - the better the sound, end of the story. Finally, that's the ...

Difference in sound using different carts when digitizing vinyl record?
@wcfeil You're a rookie Yes, i am a rookie, this is my amateur system with SP-10mk2 + Reed 3p + Glanz 61 and here is some more turntables and arms that i'm using. I have enough tonearms and carts to say that the cartridge is more important (but i ...
