Phonostage for Rega P10
For one cartridge JLTi mk4 or mk5 is much better phono stage than Gold Note PH-10 which is not cheap at all with PSU-10 (power supply). If the budget is not the issue then unused 2nd input on PH-10 (and digital interface) is what you extra pay for...
Turntable Mats: Rubber, Felt or Cork.
I was re-reading the comments above.... It seems that @chakster prizes looks & price over effectiveness. Design is definitely very important for me when it comes to any high-end gear (turntable or mat, speakers of amps). But do you think that...
Pro ject tube box s
Can you use ECC81 (12AT7) instead of ECC83 (12AX7) in this circuit ? I've been searching for the best NOS ecc81 (12at7) for my ex amp and discovered some amazing vintage tubes from telefunken, sylvalia, matsushita
Phonostage for Rega P10
I’m using Gold Note PH-10 with PSU-10 in my system, this phono stage is great if you have a lot of cartridges or at least two tonearms/turntables (like myself), you can connect two MC or two MM at the same time, or MC and MM. It is more flexible f...
Cartridge recommendation for classical listening
There are cartridges on the market with 9.5 mV output like Shure M44-7, unfortunately they are not the best MM in terms of sound quality, not better than MM with 1.5mV output. High efficient speakers is the key to keep the volume control knob down...
Reasonable moving coil cartridge
Note that although these "esoteric" styli types (line contact, shibata etc), are highly touted, some are EXTREMELY finnicky to set up to get their angles correct. I do not agree, correct set up of any cartridge is important, once you can set up a ...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
Vinyl was too cheap in the 70’s ? Record dealers drilled sleever and cut corners on the sleeves to mark discounted vinyl, but drilling record labels is something strange, maybe not strange for Japanese ? LOL Why disc stabilizers are not recommende...
I Need Some Opinions...
My thought is I could likely improve the performance of this setup by changing cartridges; looking for more detail I THINK a LOMC might be a good idea. Is this a correct thought? No necessary, but your new cartridge must be perfectly matched with...
Cartridge Damaged, need advise on getting new
No one can explain better than J.Carr (Lyra) who is a cartridge designer himself. An this is what he said: To retip a cartridge that was originally equipped with a stylus made by one manufacturer with one made by a different manufacturer is like r...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
SAEC also do not recommend to use record weight (disc stabilizer) on top of the disc according to the manual as it will reduce the effectiveness of the solid mat. So we did everything wrong :))
Reasonable moving coil cartridge
Both of them ( DL-301 II & DL-110 ) have Elliptical tip, it's ok for about 600 hrs of use and then re-tip with drop of glue or it must be re-cantilevered, but for this price a better MM cartridges can be acquired with Stereohedron Tip (twice...

How to upgrade "power cord" on turntable with wall wart?
Well, technically, music doesn’t go through any of those cables. There is no music signal until the speakers generate one. What goes through interconnects and speaker cables is actually the same thing that goes through power cords - alternating ...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?

How to upgrade "power cord" on turntable with wall wart?
A whole bunch of people have made the comparisons and consistently reported that power cables do indeed sound different. You claim the right to say they are nuts. Why? Please explain. Well, i think i already explained why i think power cable for ...
