the smoothest sounding speaker Samujohn, I agree with you on #1, but it all depends on how you look at #2 and #3. If playing a CD give you fatigue, its more than likely got something to do with the rest of you setup...IMO more than the player. The player reads the digital info ...
Subwoofer tweaks I haven't ttied anything like the ones you mentioned, other than the spike. I have tweaked the subwoofer distance (almost doubled the actual distance) and noticed the bass was a bit more responsive, less sluggish.Craig
losing signal to center channel and subwoofer You may have to go into the setup menu and make the sure the selections for the center channel and sub are turn on. Could be as simple as that. If they are, then check the levels for both. They could be turned all the way down. Keep us posted. Craig

Center channel phase question. Jackson - By all means I don't think you are picking on me. I have much thicker skin. Your perception of phase is correct. However, when it comes to surround sound, it can take on a different "form", for a lack of better terms. Hopefully this will...
Center channel phase question. "Cdwallace, I really don't think this has anything to do with my question. I was talking about checking the phase, not delays."Jack, is DSP (processor) based surround sound, when you have a speaker placed at a certain distance, and you tell the pr...
Center channel phase question. "The front speakers should all be the same distance from the seating position. If the Center speaker is closer, the processor can delay the timing. Typically its 1 millisecond per foot. If you can set them equidistant with no adjustment, that is i...
Is this a crazy idea. ChadnlizFWIW, I have to agree with both you and Flrn. You are absolutely correct, actives are not the absolute and will not be the cure-all of speakers. (Cure-almost-all...) There is no such thing as "the best speaker". There is no clear winner; p...
Is this a crazy idea. IMO, I wouldn't say ONLY, but IMO active speakers produce better performance than just about all passive speakers. Again, just my opinion, FWIW.
Is this a crazy idea. IMO, I don't see why it wouldn't be doable. I wouldn't recommend eliminating the center channel (just my personal preference). But hey, give it a shot. Good luck to you!
Devotion to 2Ch/MC? Stehno - For clarification, in case...Kal is referring to the reflection you'll be listening to and not the intended ambient information. You'll be hearing the speakers...and the room; regardless of what you information you play. IMO, it seems the...
Dolby digital Its amazing how a really good, well setup center channel can lock in the rest of the soundfield, even outside of the dialog aspect. IMO, its best to have the center channel, unless you speaker are exceptionally good with imaging, and few are that ...
Surround Speaker Confusion with Denon Receiver If the additional side channels have both inputs and outputs, then they are discrete. If they don't they could be a combined signal of the other outputs. Otherwise, read the manual or call Denon.
a basic question on HD "1920 X 1080i or 1080p....as I understand it...if 65" plasma has pixels of 1366X 768 is HD?"A quick rule of thumb, as it was explained to me a long time ago. In your example '1920x1080', look at the '1920' number/position of it as the number of in...

I need help setting up sub-integration Before you do something you may later regret, have you thought about checking the cables to make sure its not them? "I also noticed that when my cd is paused there was a fair amount of noise coming from the speakers and I am thinking this is becau... |
