Is this my Imagination? Shunyata Hydra 6 Delta and some power cords transformed my system.
Sounds like it’s filtering some high frequencies. The only way to be sure it’s not a case of the emperor’s new clothes / suggestion ("I have read some very impressive reviews on Shunyata Research products") is to switch back to the previous config ...
Naim introduce a turntable - the Solstice Special Edition
@rossb ,"Funnily enough, the ARO remains the worst tonearm I have owned. I couldn’t wait to get rid of it!"Although it sounded very organic on the LP12, better I thought than Linn's own Ekos, I can easily imagine it could be a nightmare to use.Man...
What's your favorite lyric from a song?
@dmac67,Dads always know best - apart from those few times they don’t.Was he right, or was he wrong?@danoroo,They’re sure great lines, full of rare self insight.Deserve to be better known.
Naim introduce a turntable - the Solstice Special Edition
It looks ridiculously overpriced but the Aro 2 should certainly draw a lot of interest. The original Aro remains the best tonearm I heard. It seemed expensive at the time but even the used price never went down.
Best best ballads that refer to a US State
Ray Charles' rendition of Hoagy Carmichael's Georgia on My Mind is not only his greatest song but one of the greatest by anyone.
Is there a point of diminished returns with amps and Harbeth 30.1s?
An easier upgrade route might be to sell the M30s and buy the M40s.Few would argue it's not a clear upgrade.
The Intellectual People Podcast - Ethan Winer (RealTraps)
There are no universally acknowledged experts in audio.Just different opinions.Everyone has an angle. Some are more altruistic. Some are more monetary and profit based. Businessmen, shill merchants, peddlers, advocates, snake oil salesmen etc. Dispa...
What's your favorite lyric from a song?
I'm probably repeating this Dylan line, but it's well worth repeating."That he not busy being born is busy dying."I still remember how side 2 of Bringing it all Back Home blew my mind when I first heard it some 35 years ago, and it sometimes still...
The Intellectual People Podcast - Ethan Winer (RealTraps)
Ethan Winer tells you like it is, and he has more real world experience to fall back upon than most of us here. I've now come to accept most of what he says as fact, despite being pissed off with some of his declarations in the past. No one likes ...
Help buying first analog rig - Clearaudio Concept or Rega P6
Build quality against VTA tweaking?Surely it's no contest?Back in my days of LP12 ownership I did experiment with adjusting VTA but it did next to nothing. On the other hand even an increase or decrease of 1 gram of tracking weight was easy enough ...
Speaker size and soundstage
@fstary,"I suppose having a system sound like a grand piano in the same room does not mean the system is perfect in all ways, but that memory stuck with me as well."As it should. Most (ok virtually all) of the systems that I've heard had no chance...
Your favorite audio cartoons
Somebody sent me this one a few years back.At the time I didn't know whether to laugh or take offense.I still don't.https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/the-two-things-that-really-drew-me-to-vinyl.437312/
Speakers The single most critical component
@larryi ,"But, I have personally not heard a high powered amp that I preferred over a good low-powered amp when driving efficient speakers."Me neither. As I moved up the range of Naim amps I got a different sound, more muscular, controlled maybe, ...
Revel 226be vs. 228be
@tvflem,"Bass is far better."Since bass performance is THE key difference between loudspeakers I think the answer is staring the OP in the face regardless of the issue of possible room cosmetics.
Help buying first analog rig - Clearaudio Concept or Rega P6
@williewonka ,That’s a very compelling and persuasive response with the only problem being the very strong competition to be found elsewhere. In any case, such is the state of vinyl replay in 2021, whichever deck the OP buys is bound to give satisf...
