A question of Azimuth setting up turntable
Depends on your level your looking for. Using the mirror method gets you very close but with your shibata stylus you want better than close. You need a way to measure output of each channel using test LP to optimize the output and also minimize cr...
Cartridge Loading- Low output M/C
To me I have always viewed with LOMC "100 ohms gets you a nice sound and 47K ohms gets you a very open nice sound". Then everything in between, but all this has many depending factors that are outlined in several posts @wynpalmer4 as its so true t...
Cartridge Loading- Low output M/C
There is a tremendous amount of info here, both super technical as well as the basics. If you do one thing, that is click on the link JCarr posted from 4yrs ago on Whatsbestforum, it gets you well into cartridge loading topic by an expert.I read t...
Cartridge Loading- Low output M/C
^ I agree.......I have followed pretty much everything JCarr has stated in other forums about loading and all I can attest is my listening experience is much better for it.The part that I focus on is that your LOMC should not be tasked to work so ...
Which material sounds better for speakers construction? Wood, Ply or MDF?
MDF first then veneer, not plywood. Almost all plywood has core voids, even pricey Baltic Birch. Unless you specify all B grade veneer, but even those will have defects in the veneer faces.B&W uses wood veneer sheets to build their enclosures,...
Cartridge Loading- Low output M/C
I have my Nova II phono pre capacitance set at 100pF for my Delos and I use an AQ Cougar phono cable with total cap at 60pF. Lyra suggests using the lowest cap cable you can, and for me it does make a difference, as I was using a very high cap cab...
Lyra Delos A truth teller or what?
The Delos is a "truth teller" in that if you don't like it, in many cases its because its not setup correctly. The truth being you need some help with it.Delos is super finicky on setup especially VTA and azimuth, it has to be pretty much perfect....
New D'Agostino Monoblocks...$250,000
400A of current output....crazy!! Not that you'll ever get there as your cables would burn up and speakers would melt
Cartridge Loading- Low output M/C
@krelldog do you know your phono cable capacitance? To make sure you load the cartridge best and assure high dynamics and resolution it would be good to know. Then you can set your Koru by mathematical process, as others stated this will/should all...
Lyra Delos - Dirt Build up on the cantilever
As a Delos owner, I have only the highest of praise for Lyra and AQ. They serviced my Delos after I identified a possible issue and it was returned to me in better condition than new.As long as I have a TT, I will use Lyra carts.......
Greatest Rock Drummers
Sticking with the OP topic of ROCK drummers, as there are a lot of jazz drummers being mentioned. Should be another thread IMO.Year in year out Neil Peart has been the consistent performer, always trying to improve his technique and creating new s...
Which is the Better Tonearm - Pro-Ject or Rega?
Rega arm no azimuth adjustment....booooo!Not all carts are made alike and not all stylus are made perfectly. High end carts with microline, line contact, shibata types require azimuth to dial them in as best as possible. Also you want the option to...
Killer Floor Standing Speakers under $4000 for Rock?
I am 95% progressive rock, prog metal, classic rock and jazz/fusion. Pretty much all vinyl too.....I have a set of Rega RX5 ($2995), 2.5 way that has a very singular sound, drivers work very well together. In metal the drums and bass guitar play s...
Why do I keep torturing myself with remasters?
It's rare that I comment on bad quality of new pressings....I don't really have any. I did notice warp on the recent issue of Peter Gabriel US, but really has no effect on the sound quality. What reissue has excessive bass?
Why do I keep torturing myself with remasters?
If a simple remaster then I do not buy them usually. Now a REMIX I will buy as usually they are much better than the original, considering the mix technology then and now...A current remix can be more defined, especially if the remix pushes/retrac...
