Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Oh, btw, I'd very much appreciate your recommendation on a mono cart/headshell combo that would be suitable for AT1010, as I'm a huge mono fan... thanks, Raul!
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Raul, I have the tonearm but have not mounted it yet; just from a casual examination, it's fantastically engineered and made... with 16g of effective mass, it seems that it'll be able to handle those LOMC I mentioned but wanted to check with you t...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Raul, thanks for taking the time to help out. I'm all ears: Reson Reca, Nagaoka and AT MM carts, but I wanted to occasionally try LOMC like Denon or Zu 103, Miyajima Shilabe?
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Raul, would you kindly recommend some MM carts for the AT1010 tonearm? Others have suggested wire suspended MMs (AT brands predominantly) and Reson Reca... am curious to hear your advice, thanks!
Carts for Audio Technica AT1010 tonearm?
Thanks, guys. Any opinions as for Garrott and Nagaoka carts? Also, for that matter, Denon 103...
Linn LP-12 compared to TW Acustic, SME, Nottingham
Rossb's comments seem very helpful. The Nottingham arms get the job done, but are not trustworthy... I believe one of the dealers in the UK (Walrus, I think) recommends the Moerch arms with Nottingham 294 and Hyperspace, which was the reason why I...
Linn LP-12 compared to TW Acustic, SME, Nottingham
dg, when I was purchasing my 1st TT, the two final choices were Raven One and Nottingham 294. Raven One sounded awesome, with authoritative bass and really fleshed out sound. (The carts I heard with it were SS Strain Gauge and Dynavector XV1S, on ...
Two terms I don't understand - please explain
I only want to see those terms banned in audio discussion, especially in professional reviews, just because they've become lazy cliches. They've become shorthands for the times when the reviewers need crutches. How many times have you read a revie...
Slate vs Granite vs Maple?
A lot of great ideas here! Thanks, guys. Charlieboy's idea's intriguing, especially as it incorporates the granite slab within the maple box. I'll make sure to bounce these ideas off my carpenter. I guess no one's really a proponent of slate, though?
Slate vs Granite vs Maple?
Hmm, interesting... so since I have tubes, the best bet is probably granite. Maybe I'll try the combination. Rodman, thanks for the link to Corian, but I was under the impression that total non-resonance isn't necessarily good for TTs? I heard phe...
TW Raven One vs. Nottingham 294?
Good to hear, Scompracer. I have a feeling that, although excellent as is, the Raven One can't be 2x better than the 294, especially if you equip the 294 with a superior arm as an upgrade later. 294 seems the better value, no?
Mono Switch in Phono Stage
I don't know much about the Denon, and am curious, but I generally don't like the Grado house sound. Has anyone tried the Shelter mono cart?Plus: can the owners of K&K, ModWright or Art Audio phono stages comment on the usefulness of mono swit...
TW Raven One vs. Nottingham 294?
Thanks for your great feedback, guys... very helpful! Any 294 owners want to chime in here? No disrespect to Spacedeck, but I heard the 294 was in a different league? That 294 price point is really the sweet spot for me, and I'm really wondering i...
TW Raven One vs. Nottingham 294?
David, thanks for your kind reply. I was wondering about switching speeds to 45 RPM... it seems that with the 294, I'd have to go through a manual process that might prove to be too arduous. How is it done with the Raven One? Do you have to manual...
Nottingham Space Deck 294
Bump. I'm curious, too, re: Zu 103 with 294 arm. Also about other 12 in arm options for this TT.
