Silver Banana Plugs
Why doesn't Stage 3 Concepts have a website? I ordered literature from them about 2 years ago, but never have spoken with anyone in person (they don't answer their phone, it's voice mail). Jim, the next time you speak with them, tell them they nee...
Silver Banana Plugs
I was wondering about this a few weeks ago. I think that Nordost's banana plugs are either plated with, or solid silver, but I'm not sure. They never answered my inquiries.
adding "slam" to 2-way speakers?
You are wanting to use a high-pass crossover on the Merlins? My sub's hi-pass crossover isn't transparent enough for that, and my philosophy goes against ever high-passing the main speakers anyway (extra line level circuitry, two more sets of bras...
adding "slam" to 2-way speakers?
My sub does that very well also, and it isn't a REL.
Do CD-R's sound the same as originals
Ryan, thanks for shedding some more light on this! I am still comparing that CD-R you lent me, besides making lots of my own.
Do CD-R's sound the same as originals
That's your opinion, and it most certainly isn't fact. CD-R's aren't simple numerical copies at all. You need to brush up on the basics of digital audio, and pulse code modulation. And THAT is fact, and we ALL recognize THAT. I am neither closed m...
Do CD-R's sound the same as originals
Perhaps that is true; and in any case, you have made up your mind, and so have I, Tubegroover. I can't even imagine anyone NOT hearing a difference (in a decent system), and I doubt there's any way I can prove it to you just by simply repeating my...
Do CD-R's sound the same as originals
And there's absolutely no question in my mind that the opposite is true, and is repeatable.
Do CD-R's sound the same as originals
I go with my own experience, as opposed to blindly agreeing that "it ought to be" a certain way. I never said I wasn't happy with CD-R, I just said that it isn't perfect.
1 million dollar speaker made by Kharma
If growing up means recycling one's sense of humor into a judgemental and boring sensibility, then my vote is against "growing up".
adding "slam" to 2-way speakers?
I've found that augmenting the output with a subwoofer in my larger basement room does indeed help with bass extension/weight/slam. However, if you find that the room is so large that it is bass frequencies ABOVE 80 Hz that ALSO need help, I would...

Yes, the poor little rich girl that got rich off being infamous...the poor thing, we should all just let her run for the US Senate or something, and learn to love her again! How silly of me, I have learned the error of my ways...

Lotus, you need to chill out on the Lewinsky thing. Who are you, her father?
Best Gunshots
Actually, the best reproduced "gun shots" I've heard were in the movie "True Lies". This was the DTS version at a public theater. Very dynamic and lifelike, as were the two Harrier jets when they first appear on the screen, flying in formation. Th...
Do CD-R's sound the same as originals
My multi-thousand dollar CD player played the original CD better than the CD-R machine played it, when I used the CD-R machine to play the original CD, to make the copy. And the CD-R drive did indeed let a read error through, which was then writte...
