"If you have valve amps and especially a valve DAC, I’m confused by your concerns about fatigue." Me too One complication is my tinnitus which is normally very quiet but triggered by any harsh system. More often my listener fatgue is accompanie...

@Steakster I use the term 'improvements' to convey to the reader that I have not just been box swapping, but have been moving up the food chain in terms of cost

"Are you, in essence, asking whether upgrading in pursuit of finer and finer levels of  resolution can lead to fatiguing sound?" Yes, I guess I am.

Sorry good people- been away for a couple of days. I listen near field and over the years have improved my system by inprovements to almost everything including valve power amps and valve DAC. The result has been an undoubted improvement in sound...

OK I dont want to disagree with those listeners that like monitor systems. So can we sideline that discussion for another day in order not to distract from the question. Or you could start your own thread. This is abut someone (me) who wants to ...

Now to my initial question. One ofen goes on improving the home system to give (for instance) better definition, impact, realism etc, etc. This seems a natural progression for audiophiles. ie heading towards everything that a monitor system has. ...

Getting good sound quality below 200Hz
Ivan_nosnibor   "That makes them good for lower powered amps, but high sensitivity woofers IME tend to not exactly plumb the bass depths" Is there a reason why this may be, and are there any lower sensitivity 15" drivers that I could think about....
Getting good sound quality below 200Hz
Pedroeb forgive my ignorance, but what am I looking at in that graph. I don't use the region 200Hz + where it is pretty ragged and have accepted that below 100 Hz its output is poor, exacerbated by the OB. But this is true of most 15" drivers in OB.
Getting good sound quality below 200Hz
The baffles were bought with Altec 416B drivers and Saba Greencones, and the crossover point was set much higher (about 450Hz). This worked well until I upgraded the Sabas for Cube Audio FC8s. These were now capable of playing full range down to 2...
