Brand new Technics SL-1210GR platter wobble ... disappointed!
Chakster, there is some options except Technics SP-10R - I like Brinkmann for example. If I would have to choose new DD I would choose Brinkmann without tonearm.
Brand new Technics SL-1210GR platter wobble ... disappointed!
Warmth of the belt drive isn't the myth. I do have Era turntable paired with Ortofon tonearm - it makes a lot of soft passages in any system. I will keep it just as 3rd turntable and as curiosity.Never liked the cheap DJ Technics like 1200 series....
Technics moving all turntable production to Malaysia
I like Japanese culture and artisan attitude. I can't imagine myself buying  SL-1000R made in Malaysia. It's corporate move and in short term it will be profitable. But it's not about business it's about the soul.
Will Step Up Transformer Improve the Sound Quality?
To build in SUT inside isn't the good one idea. It will catch more noise so SN ratio will be inferior compared with external one. Friend of mine builds tube phono stages so customers usually wants SUT inside as it makes less space and less wiring ...
SAEC WE-308 L or a new tonearm?
Saec works for low compliance cartridges better than any Jelco. Jelco more universal.  Thumbs up for Groovemaster the last alive manufacturer which tonearm doesn't look like Harry Potter wand.

Article: "Spin Me Round: Why Vinyl is Better Than Digital"
Timing matters, if you will calculate it in ms and will found in anatomy manual how ears are made you can go to sampling and resolution calculation and compare it with Nyquist figures - it's physics and waves + math -- no engineering at all.And to...
Article: "Spin Me Round: Why Vinyl is Better Than Digital"
I do have friend who had diploma in physics and who worked in university. So he can speak about Nyquist an hour as he now in retirement so he had a time to get into it up to human ear construction. But in general if somebody says that digital / ...

Measuring TT Speed
In my phone LG v30+ RPM metter shows 32.83 instead of 33.33Both my turntables has strobe's and one of the even has custom built. And if I do measure friends machines I am getting the same error always so for me it's usable but it's not measurement...
TONEARM DAMPING : DAMPED OR NOT ? ? USELESS ? ? WELCOMED ? ?
tyray, in my opinion antistatic effect  is very small and it's more advertising gimmick. I am a little bit confused why none of MC cartridges uses brush. Maybe there is some interference. For high compliant ones it should be very OK...
