Step down transformers detrimental to SQ? not sure about effect on SQ but would assume no problem unless in too close proximity to other transformer.......and would you not need a step UP transformer here with a 100V amplfier?
TT set up I would not trust myself to set tracking angles; I would hope the dealer would do it for me. Floating the arm and setting tracking force is the extent of my confidence
Arguments devolve on threads to wordsmithing contests Do the discussions devolve or do they evolve? I suspect what happens to them is alternating versions of osmosis and capillary action, each in inverse intensity and magnitude to the other. But I could be wrong.
Stroboscopic disk sets wrong speed for turntable? Strange......maybe it's just a rounding error on your measuring device since the other two speeds you have are 45 and 78....whole integers. Anyway, those were the only things I would have done myself (toggle the speed selector and set back to 33.3...
Arguments devolve on threads to wordsmithing contests I'll take infinity for 800
Arguments devolve on threads to wordsmithing contests yeah, I believe that was the title of the piece.......i will guess you will end up with the same thing you started with after cutting, just a smaller version? what do I win? or do I lose?
Stroboscopic disk sets wrong speed for turntable? I would toggle the speed selector dial between all settings a couple of times, set back to 33.3 and see if that makes any difference. Maybe also lift the platter off and see if the belt is on correctly. Other than that I would suspect a motor issue.
Arguments devolve on threads to wordsmithing contests Personally, I think M.C. Escher should get credit for the double helix; he had drawings of it a decade before Watson & Crick came along.
Arguments devolve on threads to wordsmithing contests Nah, I think the concept stated in the OP is due mostly to a lot of folks just think they know more than they do. Don Rumsfeld came close to grasping the fundamentals of this in his theory of "known knowns" and "unknown knowns." It hurts your head...
Arguments devolve on threads to wordsmithing contests six months later I will introduce a reverse thread adapter that will enhance the original bulb by several orders of magnitude Dilly Dilly
Arguments devolve on threads to wordsmithing contests I will come out with the reverse threaded light bulb and stomp to a feverish beat about how great it is......but nobody will be able to use it in their existing sockets. I will blame them for this.
Speaker Width? Mine are about six feet apart center to center, about two feet from rear wall, listening at about nine feet from speakers, cabinets tilted so that I cannot see either side of the cabinet at listening position. It works for me. Plus nobody else is ...

Going linear - The Luxman 507ux I guess you got the brand new one currently listed on ebay then, eh. It's in Japan but can easily be here.
