How much difference does an anti-vibration audio rack make Here's my idea for the best rack but I have no idea if it exists. The support columns would be non ferrous or even PVC in a cylindrical form. At the bottom of each of the 4 supports would be two very strong magnets constrained in an separate enclo...
Silver plated copper What is the difference between oxidizing and corroding? I am no chemical engineer but I think oxidation is primarily a result of being in contact with the atmosphere over an extended time period. Corrosion, to my way of thinking, is the actual ...
Silver plated copper Many textbooks on electrical engineering have the word "theory" in their title and I consider skin effect to be one.
How much difference does an anti-vibration audio rack make I have all my equipment resting on the "holes" that were cut from solid blocks of MIL SPEC rubber, about 1-1/2" thick that are used to support pipes in pipe hangers on SSN688 class submarines......the hanger shop would just throw the "holes" in a ...
Measuring impedance with multimeter Speaker impedance is expressed as an average in ohms; impedance varies with frequency of input signal.
Need input regarding integrated amp I had the NAD 3020 integrated amp back in the early 80's and loved it. They hit a home run with that unit. Don't know how their current products stack up to what was a proud legacy.
Need input regarding integrated amp Yamaha has some pretty nice integrated amps now that have phono stages built in. I got a Marantz integrated amp several years ago just because it had a phono stage built in, but I got rid of it before long and went to tube integrated and separate ...
Silver plated copper Silver is the "best" electrical conductor of electricity, marginally better than copper regarding conductivity. Silver will oxidize just as copper will, but silver will not corrode like copper. Unless I could have silver wire throughout my system ...

Review: Jolida JD-302b Tube amp I have had a Jolida 302CRC since 2012 and one of the first things I did was replace all the stock Chinese tubes as so: Holland made DD getter EL34’s from the XF3/4/5 series made from 1957 to 1962 (so at least one of my output tubes is within three...
Upgrade sugestion please You should check out the Watkins Generation 4 bookshelf size speaker; the Harbeth P3ESR comes nowhere near the Watkins speaker. I know this because I've compared them and was shocked at how bad the Harbeths sounded.
Question about my Grado ZF1 phono cartridge mjb_nc, according to Grado, the replacement stylus for ZF1 is the stylus designated "Silver 1/S".....this came from the Grado Canada website. I believe that most Grado cartridges are not shielded in any way; resulting in hum. I changed from a Grad...
Watkins Audio Generation Four Bookshelf Speakers ? reference999, these are without doubt the best sounding bookshelf speakers I've ever heard. I have had Watkins speakers for over 30 years and was involved in the manufacture of the WE-1 back in the early 80's. The new Generation 4 I have compared ...
Looking for speaker ideas. @hifiman5 No, the Watkins speakers do not come "broken in." They are tested for impedance and frequency response before packing but other than that, they are "virgins." I have been told that of all the ones that have been shipped out, none have c...
Jolida Reliability I have had a Jolida JD-302CRC integrated amp, JD-9 phono stage, and JD-100A CD player for over four years and have had no trouble at all. If they made a turntable I would probably get that as well but for now use a Pro-Ject Xpression table. The be... |
