Cartridge for VPI Classic? Zephyr
Sibilance issues with vinyl rig Life's too short to be offended by priggish gear snobs :-)
Sibilance issues with vinyl rig apparently I've doing been doing something wrong all these years--because once set-up properly, I've never had sibilance or tracking problems with the JMW-9 arm.
VPI VMW-9 Arm: Signature versus Memorial? See responses to this (your) same question on audioasylum
Ultralinear vs. Triode I seriously prefer triode setting (~40W) for rogue tempest magnum integrated. My speakers are Merlin TSM-MM. Triode results more realistic sound IMO.
VPI Classic Motor Lubrication 40 weight motor oil is specified in the manual. Your suggested application method should work. I plan on squirting a couple drops of oil in the tight gap after a year of operation.
Upgrading a Scout II, Best bang for the buck?? No question a platter upgrade should be considered.
Upgrading a Scout II, Best bang for the buck?? We're looking at $700 for the platter upgrade, $700 for the vpi outer ring, and $150 for the vpi center weight--that's a costly overall upgrade, which is why I recommended the most cost effective upgrade would be to replace the cartridge.
Upgrading a Scout II, Best bang for the buck?? Upgrading the platter would cost around $700, I believe.
Upgrading a Scout II, Best bang for the buck?? According to VPI, the VPI Periphery Outer Ring Clamp doesn't fit the Scout.
Anyone tried Soundsmith VPI Zephyr MI Cartridge I share Macdadtexas' enthusiasm for this cartridge--it's an outstanding value. I also own a VPI Classic.
Upgrading a Scout II, Best bang for the buck?? A high output MC cartridge such as the Dynavector DV 20XH will result in best bang for buck improvemnet, IMO.
VPI Classic - Now you have one...... I've got a hum and buzz that I can't yet defeat.
mmf-5 arm adjustment The Pro-Ject manuals are far superior. My advice to anyone purchasing a Music Hall turntable is to download the manual for the "equivalent" Pro-Ject model.
mmf-5 arm adjustment Download manual for Pro-Ject 2 which has instructions for adjusting the azimuth. Pro-Ject also manufactures the mmf-5 and the tonearms are essentially indentical. You must remove the anti-skate stub to access the azimuth adjustment screw. http://w... |
