Can one ever be "done" in this hobby?
My habit of constant experimentation and upgrade stopped a few months ago, when I decided to stop seeing all my "audiophile" friends, after drawing the conclusion that whatever $$$$$$ they spent to "improve" are like brewing coffee on an camp fire...
Who is using their DAC as a preamp?
Audio Aero Capitol Reference.  CD / DAC / active line-stage all in one box.  Reference sound at bargain basement price. In general I do not like DAC w/ digital volume (which I don't think is the same as passive) like the older Wadia (not sure about...
Break-In is Brutal
Legit places should have cook the cables for you to reduce such break in.   Especially if such makers have every good intention for you to audition the cables during the "in-home" trial period. While I don't dispute the effect / necessity of break-...

Gabriel Gold IC's are they really this good?
Have used my share of snake oil, "giant-killers", and over-priced cables.  After decades of expensive lessons, I settled on Gabriel Gold for years and still using them.  My power cords / speaker cables / interconnects are mostly Reflection v2 (som...
The Audio Gods are tough but fair-Have you had the "Curse of the 300B" ?
300B sound is golden but God make sure you truly work for it.   Great things come in small quantity ... 300B is like that ...you don't get a lot, but whatever you get, is divine that cannot be matched.Hope this helps.
Mapleshade Isolation: Does Nothing?
Here’s my $0.02 from my use experience: Other than those ridiculous big and heavy brass footers, virtually all Mapleshade product I tried did nothing, as if my ears are soaked in snake oil for too long. The brass footers did many things in my room....

Shipping by UPS
IMHO makes no difference with UPS, FedEx, DHL or UPS Ground. The damages are usually during the transit, when the machines have no idea if you are shipping an Ayon in triple boxes, or a box of egg wrapped in old newspaper. Have 4 inches of sold cu...
Do you "treat" your speakers rubber surrounds?
Somebody once shown me adding some kind of special heavy oily mix (almost like vaseline) to keep the rubber part moist (reduce physical wear and deterioration).I suspect it’s more for physical maintenance than for sound, just like some vintage Mc ...

What define "musicality" ? And what constitute "musicality" in audio ?
Perhaps, Musicality = Music to my earsIt has nothing to do with the system. Just spin a disc full of music you despise: Even God bestowed an heavenly perfect setup onto you, it would not have any musicality to your ears.In other words, claiming an...

Kids during audition - aaaaagh!!
I hope my kids would dance or listen or having fun around my stereo.  Safety is my own concern.  But if they knock something off or put a dent to something, it's all ok as long as nobody gets hurt.
