Best Speakers below $1000 for my needs
I like the Dynaudio's. Especially the fact that they use a huge voicecoil (3" in most woofer) to handle power, heat and dynamics. Sweet tweeter as well. I wish they hadn't pulled out of the DIY market.
Best used Krell two channel amp?
Dadio,I would not take a KAV over a KSA any day of the week. I'm not saying the KAV 250A is bad, it surely has the power ratings, BUT the KSA-80b has musicality in spades all over the KAV series.....KAV stands for Krell Audio Video and this seems ...
Tube Audio Design TAD-1000 100 watt Mono Blocks
Denf,Anything to report on the TAD-1000 mono's yet?I'm considering his package deal with the TAD-150 Sig. as a complete system change over. The TAD-150 has plenty of threads and info floating around, all of which seems positive, but have not found...
Upgrade advice: Conrad Johnson MF-2500a ?
I am running the PCA-2 and HCA-2 in my system with JM Labs Cobalt 826 Signatures. For the first month I wasn't sure if this combo was going to pan out. Brand new stuff and needed a long break-in period. Sound was OK at best, but started to open up...
Concert stage layout -- who made who?
What if the performance was played in "The Round"?Would the soundstage revolve too?Just kiddin'...........I'm not as dumb as Y'all think.I think it's clear that the engineer has final say on band placement, how big his/her instruments are (no pun ...

Somebody Help Convert me to tubes
I agree with Jmcgrogan2.......BATFor the money spent a used VK-5i is an excellent point of entry. The VK-3i is no slouch either but the 5i may compiment your associated gear better.
Somebody Help Convert me to tubes
Hi Dewinkle,I had CS-3.6's for 8 years and went through a similar set of events. I drove them with both Levinson and Krell amps with their respective make preamps. Upon wishing for the same thing as you I started auditioning tubed preamps for 2-3 ...

What mini-monitors should I audition?
I must say that I've been in love with my JMLabs since they broke in,(about 200 hrs.) and find it very hard to do anything but relax and enjoy the music. No listening to the components, just the ebb and flow of the music with excellent dynamics an...
Triangle vs Paradigm vs JMLab
I have had several models from each brand listed and many more to boot. I have changed over from Thiel CS-3.6 with Krell mono's to 25 watt tube mono's from ASL and the JMLabs Cobalt 806S with their SW-800S sub. At the price point of the Signature ...
Floorstanders over Suspended Hardwood-Help Please
If the Berber carpet is not tack-stripped to the floor, ie; area rug, I did a quick and cheap solution for my room with hardwood maple flooring. My Thiel 3.6's are 110 lbs with 3 spikes that penatrate just about anything. For what it's worth, may n...

Tubes with Thiel CS-3.6's? has anyone had success?
Thank you all for the input so far. I know all too well how the 3.6's are demanding speakers at higher volumes and extreme dynamics. In my insane search for absolute resolution and clarity in dymanics it took the mighty MDA-500's to totally blow m...
A great DIY line array speaker????
Check out Zalytron.com under Audiophile kits for a Dr. Joseph D'Apollito design, very interesting and has customer comments. Also check out ORCAdesign.com which had the same kits and schematics for a nice line array project, if ORCA's new site is ...
