Rok2id, So true, and that crossed my mind when I ever so carefully chose to limit my comments to "charisma."As for your recent LvB trios, that sounds like a winner of a combo. I've had the pleasure of hearing Lynn Harrell live twice. Best Dvorak c...

Rok2id, Lynn Harrell went from 1st Chair cello in the Cleveland to a distinguished solo career. On the other hand, I remember several years ago listening to Alban Gerhardt discuss the excruciatingly difficult decision he had to make in turning dow...

Last night I pulled out HvK's 1963 Eroica and gave it a listen. I thought about how much more I like this recording than almost all of the other Eroicas I have. If someone were to ask me, "Why do you like this version best," the most candid respon...

GZ, good comments. The market will decide if Sony got this right or wrong.
New Magnepan 3.7 i ?
It is my understanding that part of the change from the .6 to .7 series was increasing the tension. Now they have decided to decrease the tension? If this is true, it makes you wonder what is going on up there. I'd probably go for a cross over upg...

Dweller, My guess is that Sony miscalculated how many of us feel as you do. I don't have time to mess with building a computer system now. If I could use the HapZ1 in conjunction with a CD player, I would go ahead and get one. As it is, I already ...
Sony - What were you thinking?
I think this piece was part and parcel of their major hi-res download strategy. I don't think this was a poorly conceived product. I think they knew exactly what they wanted to accomplish with its launch. The question is -- did they guess right? T...

Frogman, For years I sat in the front row at the ISO concerts. Not only was the price right, but it really allowed me to watch the musicians work. And I do mean work! You guys must go home dead tired after a Beethoven symphony. I also have a vivid...
I'm beginning to wonder...
Roxie, the answer to your question is 73.89%.Now, to address some of the comments in the slowly drifting subject matter---In 1980, my world was confined to a small fraction of the Midwest, apart from occasional attempts at deciphering Chemiche Ber...
Coincident Linestage vs CJ CT5 or Allnic L-3000
Charles, as you pointed out earlier, the PSVane HiFis continue to improve. I have no idea what the quantum improvement Pap promises is going to sound like.I think I'll be sticking with my VooDoo Air Dragon PC though.
Passive Preamp Recommendations?
The Promethius TVCs are very good. I owned the Ref 4 and still have the top of the line statement, although its been bumped out of the system by the superb Coincident statement line stage. The Promethius TVCs are a lot of bang for the buck.

Tubegroover and Drubin, Thanks!Based on what I hear, I can't fathom anyone thinking the deCapos are dry or analytical. This has to be some serious system mismatching. It surprises me how well the deCapos hold up by comparison with the Maggies. No, ...

Tubegrover, Take a look at my system page. Until I get the rest of my bedroom system together, when I listen to the deCapos they are in my main system, switching out the 3.7Rs. The system is dead neutral with the Maggies in. When you rotate in the...

Dubrin, Since you addressed your question to Tubegroover I refrained from posting until he had answered. He answered well, and I agree with what he said. I would underscore a couple of things. The drivers are extremely well integrated. Also, there...

Well, as expected, Frogman provided what was missing. Now, if only he can provide the key to unlock Elliot Carter.
