Upgrade from ADS L1230
My experience with ADS speakers is similar to @kalali.  They are known for really good bass, so something is amiss here.  I wonder if this could be related to the age of the speaker or room problems.
Promitheus TVC preamp
@milpai, if you are thinking about an active, take a look at the coincident website where Israel Blume's design goals for his line stage are stated.  His comments regarding his goal of capturing the benefits of a TVC were what tempted me to run th...
Should I recap my speakers? If so who can do it?
@grannyring , will do.  Thanks!
Should I recap my speakers? If so who can do it?
Fascinating thread.  I have considered upgrading the crossovers on my Coincident Super Victory II speakers.   This discussion prompted me to take a look at the crossovers to see what might be done.  I expected to find the crossovers behind the pla...
Promitheus TVC preamp
I have owned two Promitheus TVCs and still use one of them, the top of the line Ref C-core that Milpai has.  It is still in service in my secondary system, and while it is not as good as the 5.5K Coincident Line Stage, it is close in many respects...
Bass trapping - corners or walls?
@folkfreak , thanks for the info.  I don't have, and won't have, any other treatments in the living room.  It is too alive.  No carpet.  Hardwood floors and lots of windows.  The room has almost no symmetry, so I wouldn't think room nodes would be...
Bass trapping - corners or walls?
Anyone have any experience with the SR black box?  I'm thinking about trying one of these in my living room where room treatments aren't going to be permitted by my beloved.
Bass trapping - corners or walls?
I treated my listening room with pretty good results.  I agree with auxinput's comments.  I will add the following.  Before you do anything, download REW (room equalization wizard software) and optimize the results around the room without treatmen...
Building a listening room from scratch
Dweller, my guess is the same as yours.  I'm guessing that ceramic tile will be more reflective of low frequency information than carpeting over plywood, but I don't really want to run an expensive experiment without supporting data.  If I were to...
Building a listening room from scratch
Dweller, regarding your comment about laying tile.  I have carpet over plywood subfloor, and it really absorbs the 60-90 Hz region.  That range is down about 12 dB at its max.  I've thought about pulling up the carpeting, putting down ceramic tile...
Oppo Ceasing production
The decline of physical media didn't happen suddenly last week.  That has been brewing for years.  Oppo developed and launched the 203/205 generation as a significant improvement on the already good 103/105 generation recently.  Pulling the plug n...
Oppo Ceasing production
I am not really worried about support and updates at this point.  What worries me is that a company like Oppo, with a superb value proposition, can't stay in the game.  I get the whole physical media being dead argument.  But why not jump the shar...
Oppo Ceasing production
I saw this too.  Very strange indeed.  I bought a 205 a couple of months ago and am glad I got one when I did.  I can't say I saw this coming.
Elrog 300b's for sale. Your thoughts?
Jdnrbob, Sorry, The SVIIs are Coincident Super Victory IIs and the TEIIs are Coincident Triumph Extreme IIs.  The TE IIs are monitors that are no longer manufactured.
Elrog 300b's for sale. Your thoughts?
Cal3713,  I don't have any threads discussing in detail the amps I have used to drive my SV's.  Briefly, when I purchased the SVs, I had only the Coincident Frankenstein and Dynamo amps at my disposal.  Initially, I had my medium sized room set up...
