I remember reading somewhere, I believe the Asylum, it could of been here, his equipment was identical to some Korean, I think, equipment that can be purchased, um, cheaper. DO NOT TAKE THIS AS FACT! I am just stating what I recall reading.

Maxgain is right, it certainly cannot hurt to try moving your speakers; I suspect it wouldn't of helped if I could of had free rein, but it isn't going to cost you anything.

Dave, I did not try moving them, at least that I remember; given my limited space, the boomy sound wasn't going away by the little I could move them.

Interesting finding Dave, that is exactly the results I had with the Golden Cross bi-wires; the upper end was very nice, but the bass way to boomy. 
Single wiring bi-wireable speakers
I have always run it to the top for the raeasons Sean mentions. My speakers came with wire jumpers, I assume copper wire, the bass did not sound good with these jumpers, I replaced them with JPS SC2 jumpers and it greatly improved.
