Krell KRC preamp powersupply Thanks Mike,I substituted all radial caps in the mainunit and powersupply as a precaution. The ones under the controlboard were brown from the heat and they smelled like fish.It was a days work but I turned the bias somewhat down so it gets not so ...
Any experience with Krell KRS-2 6-chasis version I still have a KRS-2 and I substituted the Spectrol Wirewound pot with the Penny + Giles RF15. What a huge improvement! Also all the darkred RDE caps and orange bigger ones were substituted with Panasonic FM series and Vishay 021 for the axials.
Review: Threshold FET Nine Preamplifier I've had several Threshold FET Series preamps thta all worked hasslefree unlike offerings from Levinson and Krell.I would recommend without hesitation, as I did a couple of months ago to a friend, any of those preamps.
Rowland model 5 vs Threshold S500 series II Have had the Threshold S/300 Optical bias, the SA/1 mono's currently and model Rowland model 7's.Threshold has never been very strong at 2 Ohm loads. The model 5 can deliver more current then the S/500 it sounds more polite then the S/500.According...
Pass X-350 with Acoustat 2 + 2 Thanks for all the replies. We connected a Pass X-250.5 on the Duetta Sigs and the meter immediately went to the rightcorner went we cranked up the volume. We did not have much hope for the X-350..We installed a Krell FPB-600 and it drove the Apogee...
Minimum 8 ohms If you want to get lots of current from a Stasis concept you should consider the SA Class A Series from Threshold. They lowered the railvoltage with the same hardware (chassis, toroids, large cans capacitors and number of transistors). With the Pass...
Which Solid State Amplifier is Making you Happy? Jeff Rowland model 8T most musical satisfying amp I ever had. Second in my system with Acoustats the Levinson ML-2's. They do posses such a transparency and pinpoint placement of instruments but they could not properly drive my inefficient speaker...
Older PURE CLASS-A Amplifiers The Levinson ML3 is definitely not a Class amp. It's a AB with only enough biascurrent for approx. 6 Watts @ 8 Ohms Class A. The ML2 has 25 - 40 (European model) Watts Class A and consumes 400 Watts at idle. You can bridge two ML2 monos to get 100 W...
Jeff Rowland Model 8 - questions Sounds really great. Best musical performance I heard from a stereo amp. |
