How big should center spkr be to set to "large"?
"bigger sound right there in the middle" can be best achieved by a sub that doesn't even have to be anywhere near the middle. Set up is important but if the sub is crossed at 80hz or below and even half way blended into your system, it's gonna sou...
Setting up a subwoofer
I have an old (but effective) Mirage BP400 sub and an Anthem AVM-2 and a RatShack SPL meter. The test tone for the sub out of the Anthem measures off the scale. I set the Anthem to cross at 80 and all else flat and tune the Mirage cross/volume by ...
Dipole Speakers In Wall or On Wall? Thoughts??
As a casual observer to this site (daily) I know just enough to be dangerous....:-)I would assume that ANY in-wall speaker would have to be direct radiating. No dipole. No bipole. To me, that is the only logical answer. The chances that I'm wrong a...
Is this a logical break in technique?
Bombaywalla:I just took the time read your initial post to this thread. Got to the bottom and my post was redundant. We're on the same page, friend. But what is IOW? New one to me.

Bombaywalla:With all due respect to the EE factor, the question is moot. The break-in will evolve according to what the system is fed. Jeeez. Feed it new stuff, the system will adjust. Two days or two years later. Either positively or negatively de...
Is this a logical break in technique?
This non-scientific idiot (me) would like to suggest that if the speakers don't receive deep bass signals during break-in (or ever, for that matter), the surrounds won't loosen. Period. As for the other drivers, it's all about breaking in the cross...
speaker break in time or ?
I've seen several threads on this topic. Personaly, I'd let the speaker evolve at its own pace at normal listening levels and sit back to enjoy the process. Patience is a virtue. You'll discover a little bit of this and that every day that prompte...
Volume on AVM20
I own the AVM2 not the 20 but the volume range is the same in the manual which is available at anthemav.com.Others are right in that you CAN balance the output source to source. Of course in my infinite laziness, I never bothered to do this. I'm a...
Volume on AVM20
FWIW my AVM2 lists the volume range as -95.5 to +31.5. I run normal TV and background music at about -17 and movies at -10.
