CD Player Recommendations 5-8k range please help
I used a Bel Canto CD-1 which is recent vintage and state of the art. Unlike other analog components, I have found that state-of-the-art really does make a big difference with digital components as the technology improves so quickly. Tweaks will h...
Bel Canto Dac 3
Regarding the USB question - I just got back from the RMAF (Denver audio show) where they had done a test of the airport express with a top-of-the-line toslink cable vs. a direct usb cable and the USB cable was the clear winner...Anyway, it appear...
LA Show Report
From a 'pure press' perspective: I have often noticed that the rooms that get the press are the ones with the best sound, and not necessarily the best price. Just as in boxing , the bantam-weight boxer gets no credit for going against a heavyweigh...

Opinions on digital interconnect
Just for the record, the creator of the D-60 mentioned so frequently above is now designing the Stereovox HDVX and XV2 cables, if that tells you anything. His newer work easily surpasses the D-60, classic that it may be...

High Speed Ripping Laboratory for EAC
one question that has not been addressed yet:for autoloading of cd's check out what is refered to as a 'CD DVD Duplicator' of the 'robotic' type. These can be had for as little as $699 (see below) or up to many thousands:http://www.discmakers.com/...
Shunyata Hydra 8 vs Audio Excel. World Power Wing
Just to be fair - the Hydra 8 and the Hydra 6 are very different animals (very different materials used) ... Moreover, why would you ever compare the $1000 Hydra to the $2600 power wing?
S/PDIF Input Software to trap WAV files
check out 'IsoBuster' (google it) for ripping those tricky CD's with copy protection - it will show you the audio files separate from the copy protection at which point they can be ripped with no trouble.
CD-R burnout
I have Cd's from the mid-80's that are disintregrating. Here are some fun articles:http://news.scotsman.com/entertainment.cfm?id=553612004http://www.hyperion-records.co.uk/bronzed.aspAlso a lot of cheap CD-R's have extremely thin protective layers...
What are some of the best 2 channel sound cards?
Lynx L22 would be my pick of soundcards:http://www.lynxstudio.com/lynxl22.htmlOf course, all the rage these days seems to be USB-dacs (which more and more manufacturers are releasing). Such dacs bypass any soundcard anyway.
