Dayton Wright XG-10 MK2
Yes, I have a pair here, along with a pair of XW-10 subwoofers. A lot of information on them, including manuals, can be found on the Dayton Wright website which Mike Wright maintains.Brian Walsh
Any experience with the Proac Response 5?
One of my customers has owned Response 5s for several years. Good sounding speakers with good frequency extension. Contrary to what was said above, he uses solid state amplification to good effect, although they sound excellent with tubes as well....
I have just purchased the latest Sound Lab M1
Dennis, you are the only person I've heard of saying Atma-Sphere MA-2s not being adequate to drive Sound Labs. There are quite a few happy owners out there using that combination, and for that matter MA-1s with the power supply boost option. You d...
Good impedance match for Atma-Sphere MP3?
Bill, the S-30 won't drive Wilson Sophias well, but MA-1s, especially Mk IIIs, will do a wonderful job. A pair of M-60s could be used if budget is limited but you'd likely want to use a pair of ZERO autoformers with them. The MA-1s will do a bette...
Record shops in Minneapolis/St Paul MN
A visit to the Twin Cities always costs me more than expected :-) Ralph at Atma-Sphere has posted an outstanding list. Gonna have to hit more of 'em the next time I visit him.
Ugliest Speakers???
Popluhv wrote:whoa!http://www.enjoythemusic.com/Magazine/factory/tlg/I was there, and Steve wouldn't have known about them if I hadn't arranged the event and taken him there. Yeah, they're kind of an acquired taste :-) They were driving them to ve...

RMAF: My favorites, so-so's, and disappointments
I agree with several of Dracule1's comments, especially the so-so's and the disappointments. I looked forward to hearing the Beveridges and listened twice but came away unimpressed, even though I wanted to like them and know Rick Beveridge to be a...
Audio Shows in Houston?
Lg1, to the best of my knowledge there is nothing going on in Houston as far as audio shows, but there are a number of serious audiophiles in the area, some of whom I know and will be glad to put you in touch with.
Atmasphere ma1,VTL mb250, Jolida JD 3000
The impedance of current Sound Lab models, namely the PX series, is being measured by Roger West at this time. I requested it since we are looking at a large installation which may involve driving more than one speaker from an amplifier, possibly ...
What's new on Einstein the tube mkII?
I have the Mk II here. I understand that significant differences include the following:Input stage significantly improved - quieter, more resolution.Left and right boards floating - spring isolated (were tied together, non-floating in Mk I). This ...
is RMAF worth a trip
Small correction: the site is at http://www.audiofest.net.
is RMAF worth a trip
RMAF is heavily consumer oriented, while CES is largely for the trade. RMAF is more laid back than CES and easier to get around. This year's event is sold out, which should give you an idea what others think. While not every manufacturer will be r...
Microsoft Excel for LP, CD, Tape inventory?
Guinness, a solution to the cost issue is to use Open Office which includes their database program, Base. OpenOffice.org software is free and very robust. Download it and you won't look back.
Einstein The Tube pre vs Nagra PL-L or VTL7.5 II
I recently visited a customer to let him audition the Einstein The Tube in his system. He had the MBL 6010D on loan to compare side by side. The Einstein, even with the stock tubes and power cord, was the clear winner: much more emotionally involv...
