Meitner MTR101 Amps
I recently had the urge to buy a pair that was being sold on Ebay. eventually, I passed them up after I did my research. What I found was more or less exactly what Rcprince wrote above. Plus, I spoke to John Wright & he told me that these amps...
CAT Preamps vs Amps
no opposing view from my side. I've got an earlier version of the CAT SL1 - the Signature Mk3. This is also a simply excellent preamp, if I may say so.if you look @ the development @ CAT, you'll notice that the preamp came 1st way back in 1986. Th...
SS intgtd- Ayre; YBA; Sugden; Bel Canto; Accphse ?
Sutts,Cool! I'd 2nd Greenman's reco & call up BelCanto to see if they can provide a cover/cage for the SET40i. I'm sure that it's possible to make for a reasonable amount. The sound from the SET40i is totally kick-butt! If your speakers are up...

Tubes for Jolida 302B
Telescopic_trade, have you gone over to Bill Baker's website (response Audio)? He does a LOT of modification work on JoLida tube-only amps (i.e. NO hybrids) & he does have several tube recommendations that are HIS favourite. Try one of those. ...
Can you have too many tubes?
Albert, I think that you need to adopt me so that I can gain access to some of those resources that you use to buy your 110 tubes!!! :-) I have 18 tubes right now & am considering adding another 20 (power amp).
845 SET recommendation
2nd the recommendation for the BelCanto SET40i. My good friend has this piece. I've heard it many, many times. Paired w/ Rick Craig's ExcelArray line-array speakers, the combination is excellent. He just had it upgraded + new o/p xformers put in &...
Wadia 861se vs All others.
Hmmmm....let's see there seem to be 2 issues here: (1) old vs. new technology & (2) up/oversampling vs. non-up/oversampling.On the old vs. new technology I might be inclined to agree w/ your friend in that the CD chipsets have come a long way ...
Burn-in time for 6550c tubes ?
Flg2001,just looked @ your system pix.You need to make those LPs upright! they could get warped sooner than you think with them lying on top of each other!Better yet: before they get warped, I will take those LPs off your hands & save you the ...
Damping Top of CDP
agree w/ Herman!what I have is a 12"X12" marble tile from Home Depot sitting on a sheet of cork. Can use granite-over-cork too. However, both are more expensive than sand in a ziploc bag.
Yeah baby....I found a mate
I don't know if anyone here cares or not but........I thought that I shld add my 2 cents worth in a hope to provide some info & maybe even try to resolve what seems to be a minor tiff:if you read "Analogbass" orig post of 7/17/05 where he ment...
Do Audiophiles blow speakers?
I'm guilty too of frying 1 tweeter in my Green Mountain 3-way floorstanders. These are 1st order xover speakers & a lot of energy leaks into each driver. I was trying to break them in but about 40 hrs of loud music (atleast 95dB SPL sitting 9 ...
How do you solve "popping" when source switching?
will the intensity/volume of the "pop" be less if you turn down the volume knob to zero when you source switch & put into mute? that's something you could try.
Solid state amp ultimate stop...
anyone here who informs the others that XYZ is going to be his/her "last stop" for amps is not being very true!!! LOL!I've heard that statement many times "oh, this amp/preamp/DAC/TT/power conditioner, etc, etc, etc is my last!" I turn around &...
Yeah baby....I found a mate
Jsujo, good deal! I was about to write the same - sell the DMT-12 & get the DMT-15. seems like you had the same idea well before me!! That's what I found - if you want a speaker for a medium size rm go for the DMT-10. If you want one for a muc...
