What new CD/SACD player? Marantz has just come out with the SA-11S3, and it fits what you're looking for, including SACD, balanced outs, and digital inputs. I haven't heard it, but I have its predecessor the SA-11S2, and am very happy with it.I think the new model lists f...
Any devices like Squeezbox Touch but handle 192/24 When I choose 24/96 files though my Touch, my DAC shows that it's receiving a 96 file. My DAC doesn't have a bitrate display, though.
Luxman-McIntosh CD Players Chashas1, what players have you personally compared the Mac with?
1K dac I have a lite dac 83 I bought on blind faith from Hong Kong (I have and like some of their less ambitious DACs), and am very happy with it. I haven't compared it to a lot of multi-kilobuck DACs, but it at least keeps up with my Marantz SA-11s2 and...
The ignorance of SACD & DVD-A marketing idiots.... Ncarv, your player is converting DSD to PCM before sending it out the digital output. Only a very few, very expensive players (e.g., the top of the line Accuphase drive and DAC) output native DSD digitally - the rest covert to PCM before outputtin...
Pioneer SX-1050: worth repairing? I also vote for fixing it. The SX-1050 was one from top of the line in what many think were the best built receiver series Pioneer ever made. I have it's big brother the SX-1250 which I fully recapped, and its a very nice receiver. If you go to the...
Best 2CH SACD Player for $2k Or Less, New or Used? I replaced my Sony 5400 with a Marantz Reference SA-11s2, and am glad I did. The Sony is good, but the Marantz just seems smoother and more transparent on both redbook and SACD. It's a lot more solidly built as well. List on the Marantz is $3K, bu...
Moving to Singapore. Help needed One more thing, since this is the Home Theatre forum. When I was living there, the TV standard was completely different than the US standard, so a US TV or VHS deck wouldn't work there at all. Expats used to buy "multi system" TVs, which would wor...
Moving to Singapore. Help needed When I lived in Singapore (20 years ago), US gear was more expensive than in the US, mass market Japanese gear (Sony, Pioneer, etc) was roughly the same, European and higher end Japanese gear (Luxman, etc) was cheaper. The latter was because, unli...
Dedicated SACD players with digital inputs? The Marantz Reference SA-15S2 has an optical digital input - no coax. The higher reference models don't have any digital inputs. I wish my SA-11S2 had digital ins, but it's still a wonderful player on redbook and SACD.
Best Pre with a built-n phono section? I'm very happy with the Marantz SC-11S1 pre I recently bought. MC and MM phono (I'm using my Benz Wood SL into it), remote, 6 RCA and 2 XLR inputs. It sounds wonderful, and is well reviewed. List is $3K, but it should be available new for a bit le...
NAD M5 no sound from Digital Coax out SACD On my Sony 5400, the digital out won't work when playing the SACD layer on hybrid discs, but it does work when playing the CD layer.
Why Don't We See More High Current Electronics? There's a Marantz SM-11 power amp in the listings right now for $2K even (original list $4600). 110W into 8 ohms, 220W into 4 ohms, 101dB S/N ref 1W into 8 ohms. This seems to meet the OP's requirements. I recently acquired one of these myself, al...
Jelco 750D or 750L? I got the 10" 750E as a compromise, and couldn't be happier with it.
Squeezebox Duet + inexpensive stand alone server I do most of my burning on a Windows PC using MediaMonkey, and then copy it over to the VortexBox. This gives me more control over the tags and cover art than using the VortexBox built in burner. The server sometimes comes up with odd choices for ... |
