Anyone heard the new Reynaud Offrande Supreme?
Yes and rather then re-invent my wheel, here is a slightly edited version of what's on my website. I apologize for its length and for hints of promotion, most of which I've tried to trim out. For those of you don't know, I am the importer and a de...
Shindo Amp with JM Reynaud speakers?
To be frank, I'm not crazy about the EL34 or even the EL84 tubes driving Reynauds, though I should be clear this is a personal judgment. I've flirted with both of them but have come to prefer firmer and clearer sounding electronics. The best I've ...
Transparency and the two types of speakers
from the intro do my website, for your amusement:The Road Taken AMHERST AUDIO is about one music lover-audiophile's earnest search for the "whole" sound of music. Like most such searches, mine (a great deal of which is tracked through reviews on E...
Seeking $15,000.00 speaker to replace Quad 988's
I won't say too much about this since I'm a dealer, but the only speakers I've heard that do what you're telling me your getting from Quads without the downside (scale, dynamics, low end authority) are Audio Note E's. Ask around and/or do a search...
Help with speakers for Blue Circle Integrated Amp
The CS is a superb little amp but I'm not sure it "wants" $3000-5000 speakers. Expensive speakers won't embarrass it, but it won't get the most out of them. If you're dead set on spending that much dough, I'd have Blue Circle put a preamp-out on y...
Reynaud Magic Stand, spikes on carpet?
Blue Tak between the speakers and the stands, more Blue Tak between the stands and the floor. That should do it.
Audiomat Solfege tube intigrate....Any experience?
There is a review on Enjoythemusic.com Robust, superb imaging and depth, richer than and as transparent as ARC. Not as sweet as Prelude or Arpege. Surprisingly powerful. It is Class A for all of its 40 watts.
Experience with Blue Circle amps
...don't you understand? I'm not pretending I don't know him. I said I KNOW HIM PRETTY WELL. I got to know him through his equipment, which is how many reviewers get to know designers. I liked his stuff, I looked him up, found out he was a mighty ...
Experience with Blue Circle amps
As someone who knows Gilbert pretty well, I am reluctant to wade into this one, but something feels a little fishy here. Maybe not but I know the smell of fish. I live in New England. I hear a good deal of allegedly factual crap being slung towar...
Best match with Proac Response Series
As you may gather from the foregoing, ProAcs will change depending on what you feed them. I have found them sweet with Pass Labs Aleph 3's, aggressive with ARC VT 100 II's, lite 'n' livley with C-J Premier 12A's, delicious and holographic with Bl...
Spendor S3/5 that good?
The guy who praised the 3/5's on Enjoy the Music owns SP 1/2's which he also loves. That should tell you something. And then there are the slightly larger, easier to drive 3/1's. Winners all.
Best amplifier for Sonus Faber Guarnieri
Dearthvader's gotta be a masochist. Tubes or hybrids, all the way. C-J Premier 12A's? Blue Circle BC 2's or 2.1's? Spectral will turn your music experience into a lab experiment. Yucko.
Meridian M2 s
The first speakers I ever loved and I think of them occasionally still. Image like bandits. Lovely to look at. I haven't heard them since the early 1980's and maybe time has marched on. Or maybe not.
Best speaker for BC2 amps.....
I'd vote with the Spendor and Harbeth crowd. When I heard BC 2.1's with Merlins, they were very assertive. If you like that, fine. Nothing wrong with it. But if you prefer a less pushy sound, try Spendor SP 1/2's or Harbeth Compact 7's. Spendors ...
Amati Homage
I would vote for the Blue Circle BC 3000 preamp and new AG 8000 hybrid monoblocks. Just the right amount of oomph for that 4 ohm impedance and enough soul to make those lovely creatures dance. Solid state with Sonus Faber is a no-no. rneill
