Digital Amps vs Solid State Amps Levchappy - I think the new Wyred 4 Sound 1000 watt per channel amps would give your old Levinson some real competition.
Pangea power cords Well I have decided to further break in the Pangea AC-9 on the power strip that the transport and dac are plugged into before eventually trying it again on the power amp. After two days I am really liking what I am hearing; in addition to an incre...
Pangea power cords I tryed the Pangea AC-9 power cord on my B&K Reference 125.2 power amp and found that the mids and top end sounded dull compared to the Emotiva power cord. I have since switched back to the Emotiva.
Transport for Cambridge DacMagic J135 - I used the Onkyo by itself for quite awhile and then picked up a Musical Fidelity V-Dac after reading about it in Stereophile. The improvement was pretty apparent; the soundstaging was one thing that really improved; instruments were better...
Best Match for Dynaudio Contour S3.4? Believe it or not my little Qinpu A-1.0X sounds extremely good driving my Dynaudio Contour S3.4 speakers. Also have a Musical Fidelity A3.5 and Onkyo A-9555 which both sound quite nice with this speaker.
logical steps up from DacMagic? You may want to check out the YBA dac mentioned in the June issue of Stereophile. They liked it overall better than the DacMagic.
MSB DAC IV or dCS Paganini I've listened to both dacs. I would go with the MSB.
Has anyone tried the Shunyata Diamondback PC? I tryed the Diamondback; it's an OK power cord for the money. You might want to try the Emotiva power cord; I think it will surprise you.
Basic Preamp - suggestions? Go for a used B&K PT3. Awesome preamp!
Matching preamp for b&k st 202 I just purchased a B&K PT3 series II preamp here on Audiogon and have been extremely impressed with it.
Best digital interconnect under 300 used I personally like the Purist Audio Design Musaeus.
Best preamp for $1000 or less with remote The B&K PT3 series 2 preamp that I just purchased on Audiogon a short time ago for $300 is really a nice sounding unit; can be completely operated from the remote and mates up very well with the XPA-2 (also has a built in tuner).
Best preamp for $1000 or less with remote Tzh21y - I heard the Pass a few years ago and thought it was a bit on the dry side; overall very nice though.
Best preamp for $1000 or less with remote Soix - I've been using a Musical Fidelity A308 for a few months now and just picked up a B&K PT3 series 2. Both are nice but looking for something with a bit more air, detail and transparency. Maybe the Bel Canto mentioned by Timrhu would be a...
Best preamp for $1000 or less with remote I should have mentioned that I'm kind of wanting to stick with a solid state preamp mainly because it will be left on continuously. |
