Is Burson Buffer Best Bet for Bustin Boost Problem
Hmmm, so it seems this buffer would not be the solution. I guess I will have to start looking for a phono pre amp here on Audiogon. The current setup with the Basis and the Sumiko Blue Pt sounds a little edgy for my taste so perhaps I should consi...
Tone arm slow on the drop
Hmmmm.... so forget the blow dryer and start exercising my tonearm? Geez I don't even exercise myself. Will try the exercise routine first since it seems to be the safest approach.
Tone arm slow on the drop
Hmmm.. I think I will try the hairdryer idea. That will also blow some of the dust off the table too !!
Getting FM from my speakers without a receiver???
Yes, all gear is connected thru an APc power conditioner.Thinking about a wiring upgrade for the Basis TT, since this would improve the sound and perhaps provide shielding that is not on the current cable.
Getting FM from my speakers without a receiver???
Bad amalgam fillings you say? Would be cheaper to replace analog gear than pay $$ to my hi end dentist. I am researching wiring upgrade presently and that route sounds like it would improve the sound quality anyway. The station is Fm and they do no...
Getting FM from my speakers without a receiver???
OK so here is the update. I switched from my Linn preamp to a spare Parasound I have and the FM went away! The cables from the Basis TT to the pre amp appear to be pretty cheap and unshielded. So now I wonder if I rewire the TT cable wll th RF go ...
Audiophiles get NO respect
Yes, I agree, many audiophiles do not know how to dress. That is why I am developing a line of audiophile tee shirts. We will cover the tube heads, the vinyl spinners, the solid state, and even the Server people...Are you being Served? Hell, I eve...
Are contact treatments worth the money?
It is agreed that cleaning connections is a good idea and then perhaps using some type of silver conductive grease may offer sonic improvements YMMV. That MG 8463-7G costs about $16.00 plus shipping from an industrial supply house. I wonder what ...
D.I.Y. Bass Traps- calling acoustic techs....
Update: The bar has been removed and the DIY bass traps installed in the rear corners. Big, big improvement. Flat panels added and moved around with great effect to smoothing out the tweeters also accomplished. This is better than buying new compo...
Are contact treatments worth the money?
Hmmmm...sounds like many of you like Walker Fairy Goop. I am going to rent an electron microscope and see what happens at the intersection of current, metal and goop.
Are you in a MUSIC CLUB yet?
Yes, the Club section here on Audiogon is a good place to start. The old group I was in from the 80's has split into two groups now and both are still going strong. We have had a few members drop out since they didn't seem to have much depth or va...
Are contact treatments worth the money?
hmmmm. any scientific testing to back up the implied improvements? Got to watch out for that placebo effect.
Strange Room Setup a Rubik's Cube?
Update:I removed a bar cabinent from the corner behind the speakers and that helped calm down the bass boom. That bar was being converted into a speaker ! ouch.
D.I.Y. Bass Traps- calling acoustic techs....
Jockey...funny you mentioned resonance. I woke up this morning and had that same thought. The bar in the corner and the wood cabinet my gear is in are both resonating like a drum!! I am going to work on those units before I go crazy on giant barre...
Bi-amping Snell Speakers Anyone?
OK so Snell says biampinng is fine but active crossovers require more expertise than I have. For now I will concentrate on room tweaks and gear tweaks since there are many known issues there. Back to the salt mine.
