Am I hearing things?
Im running system 24/7 breaking in the refurbished  Marantz SA-10 and BP 17 demo unit. The SA-10 hasn't changed that much compared to when I first got the SA-8005. I will get tbe 14b3's cherry. I will break her in good!!!
Am I hearing things?
I have a PS 1000 power regenerated and sometimes I have my 14bsst 600 watt amp run into it. It never seem to suffer from dynamics but what technical people have said here is that the punch and dynamics have to be compromised to a degree. The 1000 ...
Seeking informed advice on speaker acquisition (Vandersteen vs. OHM Walsh)
I have the OHM 5000's and the more power you feed them the better the more dynamic they sound. I run them with a Bryston 14bsst. When the drum kicks in on Yes "Leave It" it sounds like a cannon going off. When I blew out a tweeter 5 years ago, Joh...
Finally took the Bryston 4B Cubed plunge
I finally took the 14b3 plunge and a silver one will be coming out of Canada maybe next week if not later. It takes Bryston 3 weeks to get an amp out the door according to a Canadian dealer.  I have a 14bsst right now driving some OHM 5000's. It d...
Marantz SA-10 arriving Monday!
It just came in today at 1. I got to sit down and listen while I had some time. I was floored when it played. It actually played analog like smoothness. Every note struck was the most profound note struck until the next one and then the next one w...
Cable Burn In
There needs to be an ignore option here like the Tapeheads site for people who make a forum post flow and read like you're walking through glue trying to carry a big Krell amp. Are you listening Audiogon??????

So if there is any jitter in any transport the DAC will remove it? I didn't know that.
Cable Burn In
I have a Duotech cable burner that has a setting for interconnects and speaker wire. Earlier this year I was burning in some new interconnects and after 2 days had realized I had used the speaker wire setting. I hooked them up to my stereo and the...
Marantz SA-10 arriving Monday!
Hey you can get the  champagne color. There is some on eBay from Japan. However after I looked into it decided it wasn't a good idea. The Japanese electric paradigm is 110 and the electronics there are made for that. We are on 120. The electronics...
Marantz SA-10 arriving Monday!
I think there is a breaking in to some degree. I believe that. I also believe if your system hasn't been played for a couple of weeks then your new equipment arrives and you turn on everything and it might not be as stabilized electrically. Then t...
Using Maple Butcher Block Under a Turntable
Yep it made a difference for sure. Thanks for agreeing. Now I really want to couple directly to the maple bypassing the myrtle Wood blooks. Just need a longer screw spike to raise the AS TT high enough for the belts.
Marantz SA-10 arriving Monday!
The 8005 sounded bad when I first played it but smoother out playing 24/7. The SA-10 is a refurbished unit so expect it a little broke in. It was a well known eBay seller with good feedback and I felt comfortable doing the purchase.
Using Maple Butcher Block Under a Turntable
Yes metal hole with a very hard rubber base
Marantz SA-10 arriving Monday!
Thanks for your encouragement. I just wonder if this will be Marantz's last audiophile player like the path Sony took. I have close to 600 CDs and I'm not just going to let that investment gather dust. I thought about using the money and get a Bry...
Using Maple Butcher Block Under a Turntable
I just did take the little spike stands away and rested the TT spikes on the maple block. Then I threaded up my 2 belts and now the motor pulley is too high for the platter and won't stay on. I remembered I had 3 small myrtlewood blocks and placed...
