Comparing Integrateds by Primaluna and Cary
I seem to recall reading some threads here as to one major sub contractor in China doing the assembly for a few major audio makers... one or two were from Europe, I believe too.The rehtoric that got my attention was an allusion to one companies le...
Video and audio cables... Don't mix?
Two conduits - channels eliminates much of this consternation.Bob_reynolds Gee thanks, Bob, your input is always pertinent and appreciated. I never thought of it that way 'round as my focus is always on the audio... except here. Now it's gotta be ...
I just don't get PC Audio
Arbuckle RE "The point of my post is, am I the only one here who thinks hard drive systems have serious drawbacks that should prohibit an educated buyer not to jump in yet??"One aspect of the truly intelligent or well educated is to consider alter...
I just don't get PC Audio
I’m going to go with the notion that some tongue in cheek thoughts were jotted down here to generate a lengthy controversy.Cabling cost? Now that’s funny. Been pricing CAT 5 & USB cables lately? For less than a tank full of gas, you could wire...
PICK ONE... ONKYO 805 or MARANTZ 8001
Once in a while one needs to stop... and take a look at what enterprize they are getting into... and just how deeply they want to follow the rabbit into the hole.I said I'd not add amps to a receiver... I did. I said it's just for watching movies ...
DIY clock upgrade?
Looking back over this thread... I came to this conclusion... For those whose abilities and technical expertise accomodate such a thing, I say it is a worthwhile endeavor. All else may wish to simply add on a reclocking DAC to avoid any depreciatio...
Lossless Ipod question
you can convert AAC into Apple Lossless... I just did it. It may depend upon your version of iTunes though.I had some older files that had been ripped to AAC at 320K as I was seeking a good enough format to rip everything into... Lost the CD but f...
Heres my plan, input please.
Trust your own ears and budget... not those of any so called local pro in the high end biz.Very good results can come via receiver oriented systems... and they allow some flexibility along the way. Do keep to those with good power though... and ag...
Best 6922 tubes for BAT VK300x ???
It's all in what you want to wind up with, sonically speaking. Not knowing the end product you wish to accquire, some research is in order... try this spot for some insights... http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/faq/joes-tubes.htmlThat's where I beg...
Please help me decide.
Personally, I'd just stay put and wait... but if a couple more inches is important to you give the man what he is asking for or $600. That's exactly between 500 & 700. Of course if the deal is for 500 just for the TV... and 700 for all, then I...
NAS or Server... What's the diff.. which is best?
Tboooe Certainly that is appreciated. Thanks.Budget and inexperience with some of my upcoming plans precludes me diving into a commercial unit. The 1TB Iomega gigabit unit with four 250 gig HDs and a RAID array with mirroring seems the logical cho...
NAS or Server... What's the diff.. which is best?
Sgs Thanks, I'm sorry I've taken so long to get back here and update things. i hate it when folks just abandon a thread after asking for help and recieving some... it just ain't good manners.I've gotten so immersed into deciphering a bunch of new ...
Balanced versa single-ended
If the passive pre can be gotten on an 'in home trial' that will settle things for you entirely.I've had both types of systems... I went from balanced to SE not long ago.... The one item I need to mention is my source (s) even during the use of an...
NAS or Server... What's the diff.. which is best?
Sgs Thanks much... I'm pretty sure a server isn't necessary for me... although I do like the notion of having a printer being used from any PC... past that... no.The backup software and raid arrays are more important for sure....and noise is a non...
NAS or Server... What's the diff.. which is best?
Thanks folks... I'm inclined to go with a NAS unit personally. On this site:http://computershopper.com.com/external-hard-drives/netgear-readynas-nv-network/4505-3190_7-32464002.html?tag=prod.txt.1Several are listed with read and write speeds in va...
