speaker wiring for h/t and stereo Macdadtexas"simpler to just have a preamp with HT passthrough, most of the good ones have it."Perhaps many of the newer preamps have the HT pass thru feature... new however doesn't equate to good though... nor does having more features such as 'p...
Simple iTunes question Not sure how you are accessing the 'shared lib' on another PC, but I did this...using a network attached storage drive, iTunes sees it as a shared library, if that box is selected in the lib preffs.I opened itunes, and clicked on the shared lib, a...
Ripping 700 CD's to HD using FLAC-How much space? Another thought here is, FLAC allows you to select the bit rate... so the overall file size will change accordingly. I've heard no diffs from one bit rate to another in the 500 - 1000 region. As it is a lossless codec it stands to reason you could ...
PS Audio PerfectWave- Very decent one Congratulations, it's always good to find good value in power cords. I believe they are fundamental, and very important.

Is too much power in an amp really a problem? I used Bel Canto solely as a reference point. They aren't on my short list for consideration. Only Wyred 4, Rowland, & Spectron are. The latter two probably will be cost prohibitive though.
Is too much power in an amp really a problem? Thanks a whole bunch so far everyone…The insights are super, the sound of it is key… and the words on how numbers apply & translate were outstanding.Guido, I liked the review on the VA speakers.Well, keeping booze and boozed up friends away fr...
Mixing b&w 703 with cdm 9nt and cdm cnt I'm suspecting you are going to run the NTs as fronts and the 700s as rears in a multi ch arrangement? The NT sereies across the front where I believe it matters more so, should be fine enough a setup sonically. rears really are lesser a concern......
Best Used under $300 2 Channel Amp Why not just go with an HT receiver versus a preamp + amp situation? Especially if winding up with multi ch is a concern?you can get a lot of HT receiver for $500. I don't know if I can say the same for that price going with seperates.
next step for my setup? advice appreciated Pursuing value often proves out as a good path... and a DAC made great sense to me too as I use several digital sources.
Cambridge 840c burn in I've not noticed the 'run in aspect' using PCs, anywhere near as much as with audio components. Sometimes, not at all. I have however noticed that since I've made mods to several of my PCs, they perform better once well warmed up.Naturally with PC...
Cambridge 840c burn in I switch over/back to mynyl and I'll have 12 inch black coasters laying all over soon there after.
upgrading power cable on powered woofer a must? Audiohifila "My powered woofer on my speakers need 7 foot power cords so can't switch out my 5-6 foot upgraded cords I use on my preamp, amp, and CDP"SURE YOU CAN. Just USE A nema to IEC adapter and another OEM cord you already have laying around...
Made in Canada conundrum Martykl...and that impression has been going on for decades. We don't get a very objective view of ourselves if we only subscribe to our hometown news. Listen to the BBC for a less biased opinion now and then and you'll understand.Dopwn here there...
Dynaudio C1 vs current speaker-Wilson Benesch ARC MIT gets significantly better in terms of the quality of the signal as you move up... there are however not terribly forgiving.Maybe something that comes across easier on the source.. or preamp. Voodoo Black Dragon? It'll actually work on anything... |
