Time for a "massive" turntable: Spacedeck vs Scheu
I think acrylic is a preference issue. I personally found on both Clear Audio and VPI deck's that it was not quite as quiet, and perhaps added a slight euphony. Anyway, it wasn't for me. Some people think the Space sounds too dead. I don't, I just...
Time for a "massive" turntable: Spacedeck vs Scheu
In the end my choice of a Space was probably as much about the arm as the motor - the Spacearm is actually one of the better arms around, with a unique way of working - the carbon fiber and unipivot, plus many small fine tuning choices. This and t...
Cartridge advice needed, dynavector 20xh now what?
Mehran is one of the coolest mofo's on 'gon.
Tonearm for Nottingham Spacedeck
Yeah - but Oz, how'd you like the Blue Notes? They are damn fine arms.
Time for a "massive" turntable: Spacedeck vs Scheu
I love my Spacedeck. If I buy another 'table it will be a Dais with my old spacearm for mono and and an Ace-Anna. I wouldn't change over to anything else. It reproduces as well as a Nagra reel-to-reel - which I have spent much time with. The Nagra...
Best movies last two years
I'm going to add Serenity to that list in case you haven't rented the Firefly DVD's yet. The best thing since Babylon 5, or Doctor Who - and an engaging cast as well. And the DP Jack Green shot it - go on: rent it. Do it. Do it NOW.
Revel or Vandersteins 3A's /Which is better?
BTW - Why aren't MIT's good with JM Labs?
Are some tracks impossible to track?
Actually I've heard the blank surface thing - and I think as a rough guesstimate of where your antiskate is set, it should work, if you have it set way too high or about right, but tone disks are always best. Most of my post concerns not having on...
Are some tracks impossible to track?
Your second question: the VPI tonearm is quite good - it is not by dial-a-number system, which I think is good b/c you know, you actually have to listen to what's going on. Is it long enough really to give low distortion? No. Is it pretty well mad...
Are some tracks impossible to track?
Setting a tracking arm heavy will not hurt your records - it may wear out your cart slightly faster. I have tried this on mine and a friend's decks: Set to twice the recommended weight. 5g, man, really? Yes. Really. Now do it. And btw, are you sur...
Burned out hi fi salesman
I agree with CS. But as a consumer it's your job to find the best deal for yourself. It's hard to figure out whether a piece of equipment is good. Many dealers balk when you want to bring your own stuff in and hook it up. Better to go with the one...

Broken Flowers is totally worthwhile; it's maybe the only film that I think captures the way most men actually look at women without being judgemental, Old Boy (Korean - absolutely brilliant and unbelievably bizarre), Sideways.
Revel or Vandersteins 3A's /Which is better?
Usually when people say "Attacking speakers" I find they mean "lack of transient detail" or in fact what makes music sound "alive". I agree some of the up market speakers sound ugly, boomy, unpleasant, but perhaps accurate. I don't think most spac...

Can you clarify what you mean by "removing harmonic content"?
Anyone using the Clear Audio Virtuoso Wood?
Shasta - Hey, where'd you go?
