What does a pre amp do You have got to be kidding! Buy the best pre-amp you can afford or you are missing the boat. One of the most important pieces in the chain.
3.6 Maggie owners input needed on amps........... IMO you need 250 watts minimum with 300+ being better. Some good amp choices here and some I would never use.I like Classe, Bryston, Krell, Innersound, Threshold and Sunfire. Should be able to find some of these in your price range. Another option ...
Looking for a better CD changer Some good advice here on the Sony. I would get a Sony SCD333ES. Used about $500. Have Dan from Mod Wright mod it for you for $400 or so and you will have a world class player that not only does redbook well but also has SACD!
Beginners Tube Amp Recommendations If you can stretch a little, $900-$1500 or so you could get an Aronov LS960 used. It sells for around $3,000 new. I have owned or auditioned many tube amps and this is the best I have heard. Absolutely outstanding, is self biasing and you can use ...
vocal distortion on Jayhawk's Rainy Day Music I also enjoy the American Recordings. To cart blance say you would not trust them to do a good job is jumping to conclusions. I enjoyed the Jayhawks "Rainy Day Music" album on first listen but haven't heard it in a while. I don't remember thinking...
Ohm Walsh speakers; Anyone have any experience I recently purchased a pair of OHM Walsh speakers and ended up returning them. I had more than one discussion with them on the problems I thought they exibited and they were genuinely concerned and interested in my thoughts. They even indicated th...
Ok this will be a good thread. Without question it is the speakers. Imagine the same source with either a electrostatic, planar, ribbon or dynamic speaker. Obviously they will sound extremely different. Much more so than changing the source. But as always synergy is the key.

Speaker position???? I have used above methods until I came upon the Wilson Audio Setup Procedure. (WASP) It makes sense, sounds great and makes for very friendly room placement. Here is the info. http://www.tnt-audio.com/casse/waspe.htmlIf anyone tries it let me know...
WTD - 3D Sound like Amused To Death By R Waters As I recall Maddona's Imaculate collection was also done in Q sound. Not posative on this anyone know for sure?
Feedback on Space-tach-labs QA-112 or 113 pre-amps I purchased a QA112 a couple of years ago. It was my intention to upgrade it if I liked it. In my opinion it is a fantastic pre-amp. A true giant killer. Hand built by the designer with point to point wiring. Excellent overall. I use it with a $30...
need more help with cd/sacd selection I use a Sony 333. I was considering upgrading the unit and tried a much more expensive Dac and other players. None sounded better on Redbook that I tried, and there was very little difference in sound in general. In a blind test could not distingu...
Preamp reccomendation. Well, great choice as I was going to recommend a Space-Tech-Lab pre-amp! I purchased a QA-112 to try with an $30K system, not that that means much, and have loved it so much I haven't upgraded to his more spendy models. A true great audio bargain....
What's your profession? Age? Great choice on the Space-Tech-Lab equipment!
Subs without power amps The best most musical and that go the lowest in my opinion;Nestorovic type 8's.They range for $4,500 to $5,500 each.I have a pair so of course I am biased. |
