If there’s an audiophile exit ramp, this ain’t it…
Marketing does insert that desire and dissatisfaction, but in this hobby you probably spend just as much time (if not more) reading other audiophiles' content about whatever you have on your radar at the time.  You probably focus on one area at a ...
Poor Customer Service
I have to say I've never really had any issues with manufacturers - PS Audio, Denon, Schiit, Buchardt, Denafrips, Periapt, REL, SVS, VPI have all stepped up, gotten back to me in a timely manner and fixed any issues that I've had to my satisfactio...
Who Has Technics Headshell with Azimuth Adjustment?
Azimuth cannot be set with a bubble level with most cartridges that have glued-on styluses which are hardly ever 90 degrees perpendicular to the cantilever or cartridge body (and then to the record) - only the styli that are fitted through a hole ...
Upgrade my CD player or futile effort?
I had an Ares II and was happy with that but dove a little deeper and got the Pontus II; didn't see what your budget was (will assume you're "dipping your toe in"), so there's a lot of people here that will offer more expensive and better quality ...
Help me decide on first turntable purchase
I second the suggestion of not topping out your budget for a part of your system that you’re not sure you’re going to continue; keep your purchases fairly modest initially so you don’t take a large bath when either trying to resell it or just lett...
Technics SP 10 mc II. Worth looking at?
Possibly Dumb Question: do you have to find an SP10 MkII that works on, say, US power, or do the power units allow for accommodation to various voltages around the world?  I see units sometimes listed as BBC or being sold from England or Japan...
When are people going to wake up and realize listening is a skill?
Short answer to the question posed - never, if you don't realize it's a "problem" in your listening habits, and I would contend that you will never, ever find someone (self proclaimed audiophile or not) who would call themselves "a lousy listener"...
How are most audiophiles going from streamers to DACS
Optical for a CD transport, coax for anything else.
Tell about your experience with your old Audio-Technica SL-1200s..
I tried to get the Zupreme to work, but never could get it dialed in. It sounds so much better now with a silver Technics head shell that I’m afraid to touch anything until I figure out why. I spend a good amount trying to get all of the adjustmen...
Tell about your experience with your old Audio-Technica SL-1200s..
As far as the Goodwill LPs - yeah, you won’t find much if anything good if they’ve already been put on the racks. The only way you have a chance is grab them when they’ve been wheeled out from the back and are sitting around, waiting for someone t...
Tell about your experience with your old Audio-Technica SL-1200s..
I was using the LP Gear Zupreme head shell because I wanted to adjust the azimuth - problem with that is you can't use the Technics stylus alignment tool because of the way the end is configured.  Anyway, I just couldn't get my Hana SL dialed in, ...
Tell about your experience with your old Audio-Technica SL-1200s..
Very good, appreciate the information and pictures that everyone is sharing.  I'm always on the lookout to upgrade whatever pieces of my system I'm focused on at the moment, and right now I'm going through a treasure trove of used LPs I picked up ...
Possible Cartridge Suspension Collapse?
Yes, I second/third the suggestion going through the dealer to discuss repair/replacement/upgrade options.  Hana warranties only run for two years but they might take pity on you and give you a good deal.  I'm running a Technics SL1200mk2 with a H...
PS audio new 25K dac and the psychological effect of owning a company's best.
First, to answer your question - I always try to buy what I believe I will eventually end up with (usually it's the model costing a bit more than the model I'm currently looking at), but the TOTL doesn't always equate to the best quality, so, no. ...
