Your thoughts on my quest for new speakers I have owned a set of GoldenEar Triton Reference speakers and can state they are an excellant speaker and a great value. Highly recommend you give them a listen. Well under 10K new in the US. https://www.goldenear.com/products/triton-series
Can a great system make a mediocre recording sound good? I'll go out on a limb and say I prefer some reconding on a much lesser system. A lot of Led Zep comes to mind. I find my very good system tends to highlight just how poor a lot of these recording were. I save them for my car.
Placement of AMP and Turntable in-between speakers @socalml528 There are as many "rules" as there are people who will listen. I have tried many different ideas. One that worked well was the 20% rule. Take the length of the room and put the front of the speaker 20% off the back wall and centered...
Placement of AMP and Turntable in-between speakers I've always questioned the issue of the equipment rack between the speakers. 1. The speakers are already further from the back wall than the equipment stand 2. The speakers fire straight down the line. Slight toe-in 3. The illusion of the "th...
Has the cost of HiFi gotten a bit too much? @teo_audio the ride you got to take, and the ability to make investments and so on, was supported, nay enabled almost entirely- by the taking of the blood and life of others. Get a life. I am also Canadian and resent the implication that my own s...
Has the cost of HiFi gotten a bit too much? @andy2 Where does that cash come from? In my case, and I expect most others on this site, it came from a lifetime of hard word, living below my mothly income so I always had something left to invest for my future, making prudent investments over ...
Has the cost of HiFi gotten a bit too much? And now that all the political nonsense is out of the way, let’s address the OP’s actual question. Is the price of high end equipment raising faster than inflation. YES. And the reason is very simple. Suppliers of any product will charge the maxim...
Beethoven Complete Works boxed set recommendations Last year I purhased the Deutsche Gramophon 250th Anniversary box set. I understand they selected from 6000 hours of material and produced a 118 CD Box Set. Nice hardcover book comes with it. I think you would hae to look on the used market as ...
Has the cost of HiFi gotten a bit too much? It's all Joe Biden's fault. 🤣🤣🤣
Speaker Suggestions Have a look at the GoldenEar Triton Reference. Well within you price range and a very nice speaker. And if you call the company in the early morning there's a very good chance you will get the head designer answering the phone.
Using a mono speaker instead of stereo? Why would anyone want to give up the soundstage provided by stereo. I want my system to sound as close to a live performance as possible. Don't recall ever going to a show where all the musicians stood in a single line, front to back. IMHO this...
Let me explain something to you jive turkeys. @tooblue You be showing your age with that one. Signed, Dobie 🤣
Solid State Phono Stages @thiefoflight Nice looking specs on the Moon product. I would expect that at three times the price. I'm at the point where my ears just can't hear the difference above a certain level of quality. Cheers.
Solid State Phono Stages @thiefoflight I have the Rega P8 with Alpheta 3 MC cartridge. Hegel H590 into Acoustic Zen speakers. It is dead quiet so I'm not sure what noise others are complaining about. My previous phono stage was the Vertere Acoustics’ Phono-1 MkII. Th...
Solid State Phono Stages I am very happy with the Parasound JC3+ Way below your max budget and while worth a demo. I believe it has all the features you have requested. |
