Review: Vandersteen 3a Sig Speaker
I too own a pair of the Vandersteen 3A Signatures. I have found that every step up in associated equipment has made a impact in the sound. Tara Labs speaker cables(bi-wire Master Generation 2) work extremely well with these speakers. I have also f...
Old Classic Receivers: A Mistake to Buy?
I like the old Heathkit receivers. Heathkit produced some of the finest of the time. Most are very easy to restore(since they were built from a kit most of the time) and they are all built like tanks. Power wise, they were under rated. You could a...
What are the "best" DYNAMIC speakers available?
Best to who? If everybody had the same ears we would all buy the same speakers. Go listen for yourself and come to your own conclusions. You can spend a pile of money and end up with something that sounds like crap. I think the better question her...
Meridian CD Players
I own the 508-20 and it was a large leap over the 506 series players. Comparing the 508.20 to the 508.24 makes a lot more since than bringing the 506 series into the discussion. The difference in those two players is much closer with the 508-24 ha...
Arcam FMJ23/DIVA 92 How much better?
I have owned both of these players in the past. Out of the two, the FMJ23 sounds better. The 92 always had a metallic sound in the upper mids and highs compared to the FMJ---the point is, it doesn't sound nearly as refined. Just a thought, pick up...

s.s. preamp matchup to mccomack dna1 rev.a
Try out an Audible Illusions Modulus 3A preamp. It has a long history of being one of the finest preamps for use with McCormack amps. They form a real synergy. If you only need line applications(no phono), try the Audible L-2 line stage or a used ...
I need to do this, please help
Read the free download e-mag, www.audioperfectionist.comHe has a really GOOD article on this subject and how to do it.
TUNERS..anyone?
The Meridian 504 tuner is excellent. I've seen them going for less than $900. According to "Stereophile" back editions, it was one of the best and got a solid class"A" in the recommended components issue (if you believe those guys) I had one for a...
AI MOD 3A + McCormack DNA125 , AND??
I use McCormack DNA .5's with the Vandersteen 2CE Signatures in a vertical biamp. I would definitely recommend the signatures over the 2CE. I have used three preamps, the Audible Illusions 3A, L-1 linestage and the McCormack TLC-1 passive with the...
"Vertical" biamping
I have been using a vertical bi-amp on my Vandersteen's for about a year. I found it to be one of the most worthwhile improvements that I have EVER made. Vandersteen recommends the vertical biamp over the horizontal. Only one channel of the amp re...
Used 750-1000 CD Player Advise
Try a used Meridian 508-20. Should be around $1000 on the used market. You will forget about a Rega, Rotel and the Audio Refinement after hearing this player. Very, very close to the sound of the 508-24. Some people actually prefer this player to ...
Vandersteen 2ce upgrade?
Have you listened to the 2CE Signature speakers? They use the same tweeter as in the 3A. The sound of the 2CE SIGS is much better than the 2CE. Much more open and with more depth and detail. I don't feel an upgrade to the 3A is that significant ov...
CAN Bi-Amping been done Correctly?
I use a pair of McCormack .5 amps in a biamped configeration with Vandersteen speakers. One of the most substantial improvements I ever made to a system in 30+ years of playing with this stuff. I was amazed! You have to make sure the amps are ident...
Should i upgrade my Meridian 508.20 to 508.24?
I have owned both the 508-20 and the 508-24. The 508-24(not an upgraded 508-20) sounds a little better. I can't say it is actually more open but it seems to come from a quieter background. I think the dynamics might be just a hair better overall. ...
