Tight bass sub recommendations
REL subs are the company you should be looking at. Their S Series subs are the best cost effective way to marry a speaker to a sub and not get anything but better everything from mids to low end out of it. This is using their special connections t...
Speakers for a small room
Also, if you are going to use subs for music.....REL subs are the only way to fly. REL connected to the amplifiers speaker outputs will match the signature of your amp, and also REL is many times faster and adds to your speaker's midrange in a way...
Speakers for a small room
I'm surprised by some of the choices here. Your room is big enough, and has the ability to have a tower speaker instead of bookshelf size ones. The Martin Logan Motion 60XT is a great performer that will give you that ribbon style tweeter, that is...
Nuforce STA200
Thanks, MrD! I probably won't use my system until I have the room ready. And that could be a while yet. But it sounds like this STA 200 is really a nice sounding amp, regardless of price. I have a Freya on my main system, and love the adjustabilit...
Nuforce STA200
I bought one of these probably about a year ago. Haven't tried it yet. I bought a Schiit Sage preamp to go with it. Has anyone tried the Saga with it? I've been wondering if the gains will match each other.
Krell versus Pass Labs
@dskinner,I'm an owner of 3 Krell amplifiers. The bass from many of them is known as the best from the era that they were built. With that said, Pass Labs sound very different than Krell amplifiers. Some love the sound and others feel that the mus...
Speaker recommendation
Martin Logan Montis seems to be available for $5K used for even brand new. > Love the sound of them at that price. They were $10K new a few years ago. Read the reviews.
Odyssey Stratos monoblocks with Elac Adante AS-61
@henryjudyI just mentioned Audio Alchemy due to the fact that everyone at the shows liked how they sounded with the Adantes.I use recapped Krell amplifiers myself with my Martin Logan Montis speakers. I have 3 of them. Krells are so muscular compa...
Odyssey Stratos monoblocks with Elac Adante AS-61
Audio Alchemy DPA-1M Monoblocs for sale at US Audio Mart for $1,500. Schiit Freya (4) 6NS7 tube preamp $699. Or you could buy theĀ  Audio Alchemy DDP-1 with PS5 power supply upgrade (preamp and DAC) $2,500 new. Sometimes theĀ  Audio Alchemy DDP-1...
Preamp Advice for my System
Your BAT Preamp could sound a whole lot better using the balanced outputs to the Bel Canto amps. The BAT has 2 sets of XLR outputs. Using the 2nd set of XLRs going to the crossover and running the Apogees full range should have a much better sound...
Looking for ideas - new mono blocks for stereo music
@AUXINPUT,Your last post about fuse change was extremely well done. I have always wanted to know about this ability of fuse change in a controlled environment with enough time with good equipment to tell the differences of what the fuse is doing.B...
Looking for ideas - new mono blocks for stereo music
@auxinput. You are right about that some offer the fully balanced differential design.I own 3 Vintage Krell amplifiers. The amount of power supply, capacitors, output transistors and protection is pure overkill. The ML Montis speakers drop down to...
Looking for ideas - new mono blocks for stereo music
I agree with many here...Having mono amplifiers does not make for a significant difference between a good stereo amplifier. The best money spent is on a good sounding system. If you think having 2 boxes is BETTER, then you are not giving a whole w...
Looking for ideas - new mono blocks for stereo music
Just saw on Ebay and also direct from HiFiHeaven in Green Bay, Wisc. a pair of Krell Solo 375 monos for $4,400.00 each. Mint condition. Authorized Dealer. Just an FYI.
Looking for ideas - new mono blocks for stereo music
Krell Solo 375 Monoblocks are by far exactly what you are looking for. They have the auto-bias Class A and just have a softer way of bringing the treble. The treble is not rolled off, just not what some of these so called state of the art amps do ...
