2 Channel or 5 Channel- Dynaudio Confidence 5
I had a 5-channel Dynaudio setup. Good tired of fooling around with all the settings. Went back to strictly 2-channel. Even when occasionally watching a movie on the 2-channel system (it has an LCD display that I use for music videos and concerts)...
the greatest pop song ever?
Martyk1"On the beautiful side of the contest, if picking from the Brian Wilson songbook, I'd personally opt for "God Only Knows". Maybe even if I'm picking from everyone's songbook."Gotta' agree with this one. Was our wedding song played before my...
1080i vs 720p
OK, here's where I've got to call foul... "1080p has TWICE the data of either 720p OR 1080i"1080p and 1080i transmissions have the SAME amount of data (1080 lines). The only difference is that the 1080i is transmitted to the display in 2 groups of...
1080i vs 720p
Dg1968So what does it mean that my LCD is 1080i if it doesn't actually display 1080i? This is an 8 year old rear projection Sony LCD. It doesn't display 1080p only 1080i. If "All digital displays (plasma, LCD, LCD projectors, etc...) are progressi...
Speakers to alleviate room anomolies
You replace the VR7's with something else and you still are going to have the problem w/o the DD18. I don't see how changing the main speakers will do anything other than change the amount/frequency of energy the DD18 has to add to overcome the ba...
Replace CD jewel boxes with archival sleeves?
Ok, here's what you do...1) Remove the cover sheets and place in album sleeves w/o CD, order unimportant but sleeves must be numbered.2) Buy a Sony 400 CD carousel changer (used. cheap on e-bay, as many as you need) and place CDs in the numbered s...
To audyssey or not to audyssey, that is the ...?
I have the Audyssey stand alone unit and the pro software, but have yet to set it up. Probably will do so in the next couple of weeks. Will post views at that time (this is for stereo only for me).
Where to insert XLR "Y" Adaptor
Seems to me you should split where it will result in the shortest amount of extra cable.
Doesn't DAC Do Heavy Lifting vs. Transport?
I guess that I always have assumed (there it is) that an external DAC doesn't ever rely on the transport for data timing. Instead, it empties its buffer at the right time intervals according to its own clock. Therefore, the only jitter is the DAC'...
Reed 12" vs Ikeda 407 tonearm
I've got a 407, great arm. Easy to set up and use.It is very well made and the finish is first rate. It far surpasses many other arms which really do look handmade (and not in a good way).If I was going to look at another 12 inch arm, I would go w...
Music File Storage Preference
I'm in the middle of that right now. Separate folder for each artist with subfolders for each album (at least for now). I may decide to combine the multidisc albums into a common folder, but that's easy to do later (I don't have that many multidis...
Doesn't DAC Do Heavy Lifting vs. Transport?
If the DAC is playing music from a buffer, then aren't the only requirements placed on the transport that it 1) keeps the buffer full and 2) doesn't pass incorrect data? So then, what the heck does it matter about jitter?

What would happen if we had convenient turntables
The thing I LIKE about TTs is the LACK of convenience. CDs are too easy to do things like skip tracks and never listen to anything other than your favorites. TTs get you more involved in the listening process. Besides 20 minutes in one sitting is ...
