alternated method for storing compact discs
I kinda like your approach but there's one little problem:Most of these mega CD-changing mechanizms scratch and damage CDs during flips.Marakanetz============================Have no idea what you are talking about. What 'flips'?
alternated method for storing compact discs
Buy a used Sony 400 disc changer. You can then use it to just store and present your discs for retrieval. Cheaper than buying the 100-CD selectors noted above. Plus they stack real well. So 3 units gives you a nice compact storage cube for 1200 CDs.
Direct Drive Rumble
Isn't rumble referring to the bearing effects (the quality of the bearing design and manufacture)? Wow and flutter are the primary parameters affected by belt vs DD.
Video lags behind audio - Help
Buy a Rane audio/video delay unit (AVA22?). Allows you to the delay the audio to match the inherent video delay of plasmas and DLPs.
High mass turntable owners -- What Stand?
Bigbucks5: What Canadian made stand do you have under your Verdier? Is it a DIY model, or can one be purchased from a manufacturer/retailer? ================================It is/was a commercially available stand.Trying doing a search for audiostand
High mass turntable owners -- What Stand?
I'm using a Canadian-made Audiostand under my Verdier. It has 4 1-1/4" shelves, each capable of supporting at least 150lbs. It has four aluminum columns comprising 10" x 2-1/2" dia tubes at each corner. This means that you have exactly 10 inches be...

Wow CDs everywhere...What to do?
I understand that this isn't the ultimate solution. It seems the 'right' architecture is some kind of networked collage of hard drives tied to a wireless network with the right peripherals to make the sound happen. For know, I'm not ready to make t...
McIntosh MS300
I can't speak from first hand knowledge, obviously, but the tech people at Escient told me that the MS300 is really just a tarted up E2-300. McIntosh and Escient are owned by the same parent company. When I called McIntosh to get some tech question...
Wow CDs everywhere...What to do?
It's really unbelievable (at least to me). You plop your CD into the changer, and a minute later the cover art, album title, and list of tracks is retrieved from the internet and then pops up on your video screen. You can sort by artist, music gen...

Anybody heard Galibier or JC Verdier turntables?
"This is typically after every race and I doknow that the forces acting on the supension are greater than that of the pulley system acting on the side of the platter and it's spindle/shaft bearing."You misunderstand what we are talking about when ...
Anybody heard Galibier or JC Verdier turntables?
The magnets are very large in diameter. The shaft/sleeve (bearing) clearance is minimal. You can watch the platter rotate, and it doesn't move up and down at all. Different record weights affect platter height imperceptibly, and if it actualy does...
Anybody heard Galibier or JC Verdier turntables?
I have a Platine. Absolutely love it. I like the solidity of the music that flows from it. And it is certainly a set and forget machine. I know lots of other TTs use massive platters w/o any special bearing support, and they seem to be fine like t...
