Wilson Puppy top lugs instead of bottom lugs
Thanks, Nsgarch. I have WP 5.1s. The Puppy has two sets of terminals, upper and lower. The top set has the Puppy tail connected to it.Is it OK to also connect my speaker cable to the top set? Or is there a crossover between the bottom set and the ...
New Denon 5910 for $1799?
Thanks, Elizabeth.
New Denon 5910 for $1799?
Elizabeth, you're killing me. Who is the dealer? I live in that neck of the woods. My Denon 2600 just fried (hated the chroma bug anyway). I would love to pick up a 5910 at that price. I also sent you an email, in case you don't want to publish th...
Preamp inputs - different quality
It likely needs to be broken in. I'll give it some time and make another comparison. Thanks for all the advice.
Preamp inputs - different quality
Inputs are adjustable and set to the same level. Could be oxidation--I have not cleaned the terminals.
Preamp inputs - different quality
They're just numbered 1-3. I moved my CD player cable from input 1 to 2 and heard the difference. Input 2 has been used less.
Do Cables Wear Out?
I haven't read all the responses, so this may be redundant. When a cable's insulation changes (due to exposure to humidity/high temperature/contact with liquids, etc.), the cable's impedance changes. For example, airplane mechanics can tell whether...
DCS P8i Vs. EMM CDSD/CC2
Morbius: Sorry about the delayed response. I tried all 4 filters on the DCS. If I recall correctly, I believe Stereophile commented that the filters do not make much difference. I disagree. For what it's worth, I preferred filters 2 and 3. They se...
DCS P8i Vs. EMM CDSD/CC2
I also have been considering those two components. I demoed the P8i in my system. It sounded great, but didn't blow me away. In contrast to some of the other posts here, I was disappointed that there wasn't more detail. Although tape hiss isn't a ...

Thanks!
Speaker phase and timing
Thanks again -- that's more great advice. I'll work on speaker placement and reflections. The room is a living room, therefore far from ideal: hardwood floors and rugs, fireplace to the left, window wall to the right, large asymmetrical openings a...
Speaker phase and timing
Thanks Gregadd and Onhwy61. I'll experiment with the system. The room is probably the limiting factor.
Speaker phase and timing
The room is ridiculously asymmetrical...

Viridian, I take it you're either not a Wilson/Krell/or Nordost fan or that the "Q" in Q-Sound stands for neverending Quest for sound that will never happen. I heard the CD in an audio showroom, where the Q-Sound worked. The dog was off in the dis...
Audiophile USB to PCM
This is probably old news to most of you, but I just noticed that the Outlaw 990 SSP has a USB input for receiving an audio signal from a PC. Their web site does not explain what type of signal (untainted 44.1 kHz?). I can't comment on the sound o...
