hey guys thanks for the input. As for the Picasso reference that does not wash because when going to see musician you are not going back in time to see them at their creative peak.

The Waifs - up all night, I had heard some other cuts before but did not care for them too much but I loved the many of the songs on this cd. The female vocals were very moving and the instrumentation was very good.Susan Tedeschi - just won't burn... 
strange sounds on rvg recordings/ or i'm crazy
although not on the rvg's i find the most amount of mumbling i have come across is from erroll garner. since i upgraded my equipment i find it difficult to listen to. they should put on the credits that he plays piano and mumbles.

grant green and kenny burrell are favorites. i have also recently purchased the great guitars which features charlie byrd, heb ellis and barney kessel. it is pretty good but the origional concord recoring featuring joe pass and herb ellis is superb.

actually the set Sdcampbell brought up is a 3 cd set. I own both sets mentioned in this post and find that I play the discs from the atlantic set with much greater frequency.you can probably find both reasonably priced on ebay.

try listening to the thistle and shamrock program on public radio. On the web I know it is on sunday afternoons at wdetfm.orgI think this program plays everything but the artists mentioned in this thread. It is well worth the listen
