Metrum octave or Wyred 4 sound coax vs usb I haven't heard the syncromesh but like all of Steve's products will be good. I don't know if it is better or worse than the AP2. People who own one tell me Steve is spot on when he says its about 90-95% the performance of the Off-Ramp which would...
Best bookshelf/stand mount speakers Yea don't let Chinese woofers worry you. A lot of people get too caught up in really high end drivers. The fact of the matter is in practice cabinet resonances swamp the possibly lower distortion etc of such drivers.ThanksBill

Which loudspeakers work best close to back wall? Any of the Lenehan Audio speakers - they are designed for rear wall reinforcement - in fact they are not at their best well into a room.ThanksBill
The best mini monitors you have heard? Yea the ML1's are very interesting like that - some love em with powerful SS others with valve gear. When I had mine I used two amps a Leben and a NAKSA depending on mood and music - I couldn't really decide which was best - well maybe the Leben b...
Lenehan Audio in USA??? I sent Freediver a PM and he got back to me - everything sorted out now - evidently the ML1's are ordered and everything is in motion.I owned a pair myself at one stage - awesome speaker - especially for the money.ThanksBill
The best mini monitors you have heard? Sorry guys - yea a typo - it should of course be superb - that's the problem with spell checkers - if your typo is an actual word you are out of luck. And the Sassons are indeed superb but I think this new Lenehan speaker has it beat. Hopefully som...
The best mini monitors you have heard? Majico's are good but way over priced. Ridge St Sassons are suburb and easily account for the Majico's as does the Lenehan ML1 Reference at just $5K. But the best monitor, and indeed speaker, I have heard is a new all out speaker Lenehan Audio has...
Lenehan Audio in USA??? I live close to Lenehan Audio and know Mike Lenehan pretty well.Mike would be shocked to hear that. He ships to the US all the time - in fact I shipped a pair of ML1's I owned to a guy in the US to check out using him because he gets bulk discount...
Mcintosh MC501 or MC 352 for Sonus Faber Cremona I recently purchased some Arion HS-500 amps:http://www.arionaudio.com/HS_500.pdfThe guy that got them in for me uses Mac 501's as his reference amp and nothing in the past had really been able to show it a clean pair of heels. I went down to reall...
Best bookshelf/stand mount speakers Lenehan ML1 Reference have been directly compared to the Magico Mini and bested it:http://www.lenehanaudio.com.au/index.php/products/ml1-loudspeakers.htmlAs you can see its much cheaper - but dont let that fool you - it uses hellishly expensive Du...
Budget of $30K. Help me build a system Yes room size is critical here. However I did hear a speaker yesterday that I think would suit. In fact its the finest speaker I have ever heard - period - and believe me I have heard a lot.I am lucky and live pretty close to a small speaker maker ...
Metrum octave or Wyred 4 sound coax vs usb I have owned both and I prefer the Metrum. But you must feed both by something like an Audiophellio 2.The reason in the Metrum's case is the fact its NOS and if you don't up-sample can sound a bit mushy. The reason in the case of the WFS is the Sab...
At What Price Point ? First I haven't heard that DAC but have heard and owned a lot of DAC's over a lot of price points and have a good idea what to expect at certain price points. At the about $700.00 of that DAC I would look at the following DAC's to easily best it s...
In what price range do I need to go for a Dac ? Not knowing that DAC its really hard for me to say but at about $2k or a little under there are a number of DAC's I would put in the upper echelon such as a Tranquility SE and PDX. The Metrum is about $1K but you need something like an Audiophelli... |
