The effects of corporate music
I sometimes find it a bit difficult to relate to these threads because I never ever really listened to radio that much,I don't drive either which is possible for me to do and still lead a normal life here in Glasgow,Scotland! Also here in the UK th...
Can Rock-N-Roll have great sound quality?
It's worth noting that the last Warners reissues of the Van Halen albums are remastered using HDCD and sound great. The same goes with the last Doors remasters also done with HDCD.Audiophiles seem obsessed with DCC releases-most of these have been ...
Ayre CX-7- Better balanced or RCA?
I have to say yes balanced does sound superior although of course it is louder than RCA which can be misleading.I wouldn't hesitate but try a cheap pair of XLR's if your preamp allows them.
Any good Euopean Jazz Guides/Dicographies???
Chazz,I should have pointed out it's a CD guide.I was say at a rough guess reading what you've written above any novice Jazz fan or even serious Jazz fan will find this book essential as a guide for CD purchases and a decent musical guide. It runs ...
Any good Euopean Jazz Guides/Dicographies???
Chazz,I'll have a check when I get home as I have the Penguin Guide To Jazz,it's a weighty tome written by Brits and with ratings for recordings,I'm not at all familar with the artists you mention but I'll check what coverage is there and how deta...
?'s about quality of audiophile recordings
Red2 I haven't heard the Mofi version of Gaucho however what I can say is the last set of Steely Dan remasters were an improvement over the previous set(Citizen Box set era-93?).These were done around '99 and onwards if my memory seves me well.......
?'s about quality of audiophile recordings
Red2 with no disrespect you would need to mention specific recordings for your post to hold up.You could well be comparing older Mofi stuff with newer remasters.I buy a lot of new remastered material on CD,there are very few cases where they are n...

JSonic indeed this will be part of the Audiogon music reviews when it appears, there will be some scope once we get up and running to also modify things depending on feedback.Since this is an Audio site I'm trying to get the balance right and there...

Oh ok a couple of shouts I need to answer......Chris saw Dylan 3 times in 4 days including a surprise visit to Belfast as a present from a friend for my 40th.The man was in great form (better than 2002 imho)and the Barrowlands gig in Glasgow (a sm...
RUsh: Feedback ep
Rich,I hope you understand that in my teenage years I was a Rush fanatic,I saw them some 9 times in 4 years between 1979 and 1983 and met the band on a few occassions.Whilst Rush were obviously derivative they were somehow unique and their records...
RUsh: Feedback ep
Rich surely Seven And Seven Is is by Love.I think this record sounds plain nuts in theory.
