Modest Integrated to match with Klipsch RF-82's Ok, first impressions on the Cambridge A640 vs the Onkyo A9555. After some extensive listening last night I have the following impressions. The Cambridge provides a more "forward" presentation. Some might call it livelier. The Onkyo is more reserv...
Modest Integrated to match with Klipsch RF-82's Yeah, I'll post the results as my ears hear it. The Onkyo is a fine sounding amp. I kind of miss the more lively sound the little NAD provided. Rule of thumb with Klipsch's are to pair a smoother amp with them to tame the horn. Some guys love tube...
Modest Integrated to match with Klipsch RF-82's Ok, I sprung for a Cambridge 640. I also have an offer to buy an Arcam Alpha 8 I think. I may just hold a shoot-off with the Onkyo A9555. Hate to tie up the $$ but it could make for some fun on these cold NY nights.
Modest Integrated to match with Klipsch RF-82's Can't condemn the Arcams, the only one I tried went sour. I'm playing in the $500.00 range, that way I don't tie up lots of cash. I had looked at the Cambridge then saw they have a new line out. That's an interesting option. I appreciate the input.
Modest Integrated to match with Klipsch RF-82's Interesting. Your opinion of the Onkyo is mirroring mine. I thought the "smoothness" I'd read about might tame the horns just a bit. Though these are the smoothest Klipsch I've yet heard. The little NAD seemed to have more "balls" for lack of a be...
Modest Integrated to match with Klipsch RF-82's Thanks for the input. I have to watch the $$ but I'll put it on my list.
Speaker Choice under $750 for blues... Thanks again guys. I did have a pair of the T45's recently but they didn't quite excite me. The T55's may do that.
Speaker Choice under $750 for blues... Thanks! Yes, Klipsch is always a good choice for "rock" if you will. I've owned some in the past but am afraid in my current listening area the horns may be a little over kill. However, it depends on the model I guess.
Speaker Choice under $750 for blues... Thanks for the input I will take that into consideration. I do have a subwoofer which helps augment the bass.
Klipsch KG4 v. Vandersteen 2ce NOT Sig I've owned both and can say they are indeed different animals. The Vandy's are more open and laid back IMHO. The KG4's are more dynamic, some people say "in your face" because of the horn. For my musical taste(blues, classic rock mostly) I favored...
Magnepan MMG or MG12? The MMG's deliver a lot of bang for the $$. The MG12's do the same but give you more of everything. I own the MG12's and am still smiling. IMHO the Mg12's are woth the extra $$.
Maggie MG12 Tweaks Thanks Ozzy, I have searched the site at some length. I must admit Chazzbo had me scratching my head a bit. MYE stands are made in Canada and by most accounts essential for getting the best performance out of the maggies. They raise them off the f...
Maggie MG12 Tweaks Thanks, I have MYE stands on order as so many seem to recommend. I have by passed the attenuator and heard doing the same to the fuse helps too.
